It&#8217;s a &#8216;generational opportunity&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/nvidia\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"sc-93594058-0 fowfrQ  \" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/nvidia\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Nvidia<\/a> has been one of the most hyped and closely followed stocks in recent memory as the fortunes of the broader market increasingly hinge on the AI chip leader. <\/p>\n<div>\n<p>At one point this year, the stock accounted for <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2024\/06\/15\/nvidia-stock-valuation-nvda-sp500-returns-market-capitalization-risk-investors\/\" target=\"_self\" class=\"sc-93594058-0 fowfrQ  \" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/2024\/06\/15\/nvidia-stock-valuation-nvda-sp500-returns-market-capitalization-risk-investors\/\" rel=\"noopener\">more than a third of the S&amp;P 500\u2019s gains<\/a>, and some investors even held <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/finance\/stocks\/its-nvidia-day-investors-get-their-popcorn-ready-43da3a38\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"sc-93594058-0 fowfrQ  \" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/finance\/stocks\/its-nvidia-day-investors-get-their-popcorn-ready-43da3a38\" rel=\"noopener\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/finance\/stocks\/its-nvidia-day-investors-get-their-popcorn-ready-43da3a38\">watch parties for Nvidia\u2019s earnings release<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Nvidia\u2019s astronomical run to a <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2024\/06\/07\/nvidia-hits-3-trillion-jensen-huang-billionaire-dell\/\" target=\"_self\" class=\"sc-93594058-0 fowfrQ  \" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/2024\/06\/07\/nvidia-hits-3-trillion-jensen-huang-billionaire-dell\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2024\/06\/07\/nvidia-hits-3-trillion-jensen-huang-billionaire-dell\/\" rel=\"noopener\">$3 trillion company<\/a> has also been somewhat divisive as many on Wall Street have <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2024\/10\/18\/billionaire-investor-druckenmiller-sold-nvidia-regrets-huang-musk-ellison\/\" target=\"_self\" class=\"sc-93594058-0 fowfrQ  \" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/2024\/10\/18\/billionaire-investor-druckenmiller-sold-nvidia-regrets-huang-musk-ellison\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2024\/10\/18\/billionaire-investor-druckenmiller-sold-nvidia-regrets-huang-musk-ellison\/\" rel=\"noopener\">doubted that the stock can sustain further gains<\/a> while others see the AI boom fueling more upside.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s left investors asking, \u201cshould I buy Nvidia stock right now, or sell it?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Analysts at <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/bank-of-america-corp\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"sc-93594058-0 fowfrQ  \" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/bank-of-america-corp\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Bank of America<\/a> have an answer: In a note on Thursday, they reiterated their buy rating on Nvidia stock and raised their price target to $190 from $165, implying it could soar 38% higher from Friday\u2019s closing price.<\/p>\n<p>At $190 a share, Nvidia\u2019s market cap would also explode to $4.7 trillion from $3.4 trillion today.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, BofA is so bullish on Nvidia stock that analysts called it a \u201cgenerational opportunity,\u201d estimating a total addressable market of more than $400 billion for AI accelerators. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAI models (demand) continue to evolve, with the cadence of new LLM model launches now increased to 3-5 times\/yr per developer (OpenAI, <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/alphabet\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"sc-93594058-0 fowfrQ  \" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/alphabet\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Google<\/a>, Meta, etc.), and each new major generation requiring 10-20x compute requirement to train,\u201d analysts said.<\/p>\n<p>Their confidence in Nvidia has been boosted by others in the chip sector like Taiwan Semiconductor and ASML, which both recently signaled strong AI demand. BofA\u2019s meetings with executives at <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/broadcom\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"sc-93594058-0 fowfrQ  \" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/broadcom\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Broadcom<\/a> and Micron as well as comments from <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/advanced-micro-devices\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"sc-93594058-0 fowfrQ  \" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/advanced-micro-devices\/\" rel=\"noopener\">AMD<\/a> have yielded similar indications. <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang also touted huge demand for the company\u2019s next-generation AI chip.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBlackwell is in full production, Blackwell is as planned, and the demand for Blackwell is insane,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/10\/03\/nvidia-ceo-demand-for-blackwell-ai-chip-is-insane.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"sc-93594058-0 fowfrQ  \" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/10\/03\/nvidia-ceo-demand-for-blackwell-ai-chip-is-insane.html\" rel=\"noopener\">he told CNBC<\/a> earlier this month. \u201cEverybody wants to have the most, and everybody wants to be first.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Adding to BofA\u2019s bullish case for Nvidia is its underappreciated enterprise partnerships with the likes of <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/accenture\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"sc-93594058-0 fowfrQ  \" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/accenture\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Accenture<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/servicenow\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"sc-93594058-0 fowfrQ  \" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/servicenow\/\" rel=\"noopener\">ServiceNow<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/microsoft\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"sc-93594058-0 fowfrQ  \" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/microsoft\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Microsoft<\/a>, and others as well as its software products that help reinforce Nvidia\u2019s dominance in hardware. They combine to create a deeper overall Nvidia ecosystem for AI.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, Nvidia could generate more than $200 billion in free cash flow over the next two years, rivaling even <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/apple\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"sc-93594058-0 fowfrQ  \" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/apple\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Apple<\/a>, BofA estimated.<\/p>\n<p>Earnings reports later this month from tech giants that are developing AI technologies, such as Microsoft, Google, and <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/amazon-com\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"sc-93594058-0 fowfrQ  \" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/amazon-com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Amazon<\/a>, should provide more insight into demand.
