One percent said they\u2019d vote for someone other than the major party nominee on the ballot at 2% are undecided. When undecided voters were asked which candidate they lean toward, Harris support grew to 50% and Trump\u2019s to 49%, pollsters said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"77UBNTMOPFATFJO3UU4ZDAFGVQ\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.al.com\/news\/2024\/10\/georgia-is-setting-early-voting-records-and-trump-supports-it-why-alabama-does-not.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>READ MORE: Georgia is setting early voting records, and Trump supports it. Why Alabama does not<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"7M7PEEDPC5HI5NVZR3PUSYMCLA\">The latest numbers show a small decline for Harris, who was the pick of 50% of voters earlier in October while Trump is holding steady and has increased support by 1 percentage point from September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"B3YSWCSX7VACNOPU3TAEO2TBMQ\">Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, said there are clear divides in the groups backing each candidate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"52Z5VMPMCJA37GNYI7SJ63SKLU\">\u201cWomen and male voters break in near opposite directions: men for Trump, 56% to 42%, and women for Harris, 55% to 41%\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/emersoncollegepolling.com\/october-2024-tracking-national-poll-harris-49-trump-48\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kimball said in a statement.<\/a> \u201cHispanic voters break for Harris, 61% to 35% and Black voters 81% to 12%, while white voters break for Trump 60% to 38%.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"KCIJ72CQGBEOLE2W3CBDKQRRQE\">A vast majority of voters \u2013 80% &#8211; made the decision on which candidate they would support more than a month ago, while 11% made their minds up last month, 6% made their minds up last week and 3% remained undecided.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"EEU7V5ARO5B47JNG34LN2VBPR4\">\u201cVoters who made their decision on who to support over a month ago break for Trump, 52% to 48%, while voters who made up their mind in the last month or week break for Harris, 60% to 36%,\u201d Kimball said. \u201cThe three percent of voters who said they could still change their mind currently favor Harris, 48% to 43%.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"QC3P4YFWJZEPTJWRHEY37HGE4Q\">Voters (38%) said the economy was the most important issue facing the country, followed by immigration (16%), threats to democracy (13%), abortion access (9%), healthcare (7%), affordable housing (6%) and crime (4%).<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"4WE7WPZ35VCNHKZ5BZVUD5NQAQ\">The Emerson College Polling national survey was conducted Oct. 14-16 with a margin of plus\/minus 3 percentage points.<\/p>\n<p><iframe style=\"border-radius:12px\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/show\/17PpuvWcbIqThsVw2CNADq?utm_source=generator&amp;theme=0\" width=\"100%\" height=\"352\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<br \/><div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1660802\">\r\n<\/div>\r\n<script>(function(w,q){w[q]=w[q]||[];w[q].push([\"_mgc.load\"])})(window,\"_mgq\");\r\n<\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.al.com\/news\/2024\/10\/harris-vs-trump-latest-presidential-poll-who-is-ahead-how-close-is-the-race-for-the-white-house.html\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2024 presidential race continues to tighten as Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump enter the critical last few weeks before election day.
