While Nintendo has <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Ethan_ThisGuy\/status\/1848221882496987233\">already started issuing copyright strikes<\/a> to take leaked media offline, screenshots and information about the playtest are still available across websites <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Wario64\/status\/1848222093864731126\">like X<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/nintendo\/comments\/1g8hzis\/nintendo_switch_online_playtest_program_full\/\">and Reddit<\/a> at the time of writing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">This appears to be Nintendo\u2019s attempt to develop its first MMO (massively multiplayer online) style game. According to the game description, \u201cthe goal is to work with others to fully \u2018develop\u2019 a massive, expansive planet by utilizing creativity and framed resources.\u201d Players will encounter \u201cnew lands, enemies, and resources\u201d as they progress, and utilize \u201cBeacons\u201d that create zones to develop the environment around where they\u2019re placed. These Beacon zones are personal \u2014 players can only \u201cmove, lift, or edit items\u201d in zones they have placed, and cannot edit anything within someone else\u2019s Beacon.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">There\u2019s a separate social hub called the \u201cDev Core\u201d where players can level up, obtain items, and interact with each other. Nintendo also describes \u201cUGC (User-Generated Content) features\u201d for creating and sharing custom content, but players are required to pass an in-game test \u201cto show that you understand the importance of respectful communication\u201d before this capability can be unlocked.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">At a glance, the game shares some similarities with family-friendly MMO\u2019s like <em>Minecraft<\/em> and <em>Roblox<\/em>. The IP is either entirely new (in that it doesn\u2019t feature any recognizable Nintendo characters) or it\u2019s a placeholder for the game system itself \u2014 meaning it could be part of an existing franchise at release.
