Her endorsement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/americas\/us-politics\/taylor-swift-endorsement-harris-vote-b2611246.html\">subsequently prompted 300,000 people to sign up to vote<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The 34-year-old singer received a substanial backlash from Republicans for supporting Harris, with Donald Trump himself saying that he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/music\/news\/donald-trump-hates-taylor-swift-b2613458.html\">\u201chates\u201d <\/a>the pop star. <\/p>\n<p>Portnoy, who is a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/video\/6361746360112\">Trump supporter<\/a> and a big Swiftie, defended the \u201cCruel Summer\u201d star amid the criticism against her. <\/p>\n<p>In a post on <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2024\/10\/20\/celebrity-news\/taylor-swift-thanks-dave-portnoy-in-handwritten-letter-delivered-at-eras-tour\/\">X\/Twitter<\/a>, shared on 11 September, he wrote: \u201cAs the king of the Swifties people are asking me what I think of her Kamala endorsement. I don\u2019t care at all. People can vote for whoever they want in this country. How somebody votes will never change my opinion of a person. I\u2019m voting the other way but to each their own.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Portnoy then attended Swift\u2019s Eras Tour concert in Miami on 19 October, where he met Swift\u2019s brother Austin and her mother Andrea and was handed a personalised letter from Swift. <\/p>\n<p>On Instagram, he shared images of the note, which featured Swift\u2019s personalised wax seal. <\/p>\n<p>In the letter, she wrote: \u201cDave, I\u2019m so happy to have you at the show tonight! I wanted to say thank you for always being so supportive, so loyal, and for having my back when a lot of people didn\u2019t. I hope you have a blast tonight!! Love, Taylor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DBW0nCpSMk_\/embed\/captioned\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowtransparency=\"true\" class=\"sc-1qbn810-1 dFbQfS\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In a longer video, Portnoy waxed lyrical about the fun he had at the concert, saying that he had \u201cthe time of [his] life\u201d and that \u201che can\u2019t get over how unbelievable Taylor is\u201d in concert and thanked her for writing the letter.<\/p>\n<p>He then addressed some of the backlash that he has received from Taylor Swift fans, saying: \u201cNot href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/lara-trump\">Lara Trump<\/a> \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/americas\/us-politics\/lara-trump-rnc-music-singer-b2605924.html\">the former president\u2019s daughter-in-law<\/a> and co-chair of the Republican
