The incident was reported to\u00a0police\u00a0and the employee ultimately decided not to press charges. The Army \u201cconsiders this matter closed,\u201d an Army spokesperson said in August.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2koducu00073b6my0y12khn@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The expedited release is a result of a lawsuit by American Oversight, a non-partisan watchdog nonprofit advocating for the release of government records. The group submitted a Freedom of Information Act request for\u00a0any records relating to interactions between Trump campaign staff and the employee.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2koducu00083b6m2chqo1zg@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Senior Judge Paul Friedman of the US District Court of the District of Columbia signed the order requiring the Army to \u201cproduce responsive, non-exempt records on or before October 25\u201d on Tuesday, according to court records.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2l3sy4300003b6mnyaw5t2h@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Army spokeswoman Cynthia Smith told CNN on Tuesday that the Army \u201cwill comply with the court order.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2koducu00093b6msi6go0az@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            CNN has asked the Trump campaign for comment.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2koducu000a3b6mi9wp05pi@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            American Oversight submitted a FOIA request for any report \u201cincluding but not limited to\u201d the filed incident report with military police regarding the\u00a0incident\u00a0at Arlington on August 26, according to court records.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2koducu000b3b6mr3sfd6jk@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Chioma Chukwu, the interim executive director of American Oversight, said\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/americanoversight.org\/judge-orders-army-to-release-report-from-incident-at-arlington-cemetery-to-american-oversight\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a press release on Tuesday<\/a>\u00a0that with the presidential election only two weeks away, the American people \u201chave a clear and compelling interest in knowing how the government responded to an alleged incident involving a major presidential candidate who has a history of politicizing the military.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2koducu000c3b6mvnnzsp66@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cThese records belong to the public, and we\u2019re pleased the court agreed on the need to expedite our request,\u201d Chukwu said. \u201cWe look forward to receiving the incident report and making it available to the public.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2koducu000d3b6m10eseqra@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            When the incident occurred, Trump was visiting Arlington with some family members of US troops who were killed during the Afghanistan withdrawal in August 2021. The visit was criticized by some veteran organizations\u00a0who said it was\u00a0inappropriate and a politicization of one of the most sacred burial grounds of US service members. And while the campaign shared a statement from the Gold Star family members Trump accompanied, which said they\u2019d \u201cgiven our approval for President Trump\u2019s official videographer and photographer to attend the event,\u201d some imagery that resulted from the visit included the graves of other service members whose families had not given that permission.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2koducu000e3b6m9mczacw1@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Trump campaign manager Chris LaCivita told CNN in August that the incident was a \u201cdisgrace\u201d as a \u201cdespicable individual\u201d attempted to \u201cphysically prevent President Trump\u2019s team from accompanying him to this solemn event.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2koducu000f3b6mvvfds5yt@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cWhoever this individual is spreading these lies are dishonoring the men and women of our armed forces, and they are disrespecting everyone who paid the price for defending our country,\u201d LaCivita said. The Trump campaign later shared a video on TikTok of the visit, showing Trump walking through the cemetery and visiting grave sites, with audio of him criticizing the administration of President Joe Biden for the \u201cdisaster\u201d of the Afghanistan withdrawal.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2koducu000g3b6m9zn6cqt7@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Arlington and the US Army said the campaign did not adhere to federal laws regarding political activity in the cemetery, and particularly around Section 60, which is largely reserved for the graves of those who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
