The hand-count rule in particular has garnered widespread criticism from election workers and officials, who have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/25165364-9-17-24-gavreo-comments-on-posted-seb-rules\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-t-l=\":b|z|k|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">warned<\/a> it could undermine public confidence in the election and set fatigued workers up to miss the state&#8217;s Nov. 12 county certification deadline.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Georgia Republican Party Chairman Josh McKoon called the state high court&#8217;s decision &#8220;supremely disappointing&#8221; in a statement <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JoshMcKoon\/status\/1848837738612855172\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-t-l=\":b|z|k|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">posted on X<\/a>. &#8220;We will press our appeal next year and hope for sanity to prevail.&#8221;<\/p>\n<aside class=\"gnt_em gnt_em_anc\" id=\"gnt_atomsnc\" data-g-r=\"lazy\" data-gl-method=\"loadAnc\" aria-label=\"Newsletter signup form\"\/>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\"><em>\u2013 Aysha Bagchi<\/em><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"gnt_ar_b_mt\">Obama: Trump&#8217;s mismanagement of COVID cost lives<\/h2>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Former President Barack Obama suggested Tuesday that thousands of Americans who died of COVID might still be alive if Donald Trump hadn\u2019t badly mismanaged the deadly pandemic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Speaking at a campaign rally for Vice President Kamala Harris in Detroit, Obama said that when he left office in 2017, he handed Trump, his successor, a playbook for how to deal with a pandemic. Trump trashed it, he said.<\/p>\n<aside aria-label=\"advertisement\" class=\"gnt_m gnt_x gnt_x__lbl gnt_x__al\"\/>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">COVID, which has killed 1.2 million Americans, would have been a crisis regardless of who was president, Obama said. But Canada\u2019s per capita death rate from the virus was 60% lower than the United States\u2019, he said, suggesting that more than 600,000 American deaths could have been prevented.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u201cThat&#8217;s people&#8217;s grandparents, people&#8217;s parents, co-workers, friends,\u201d he said. \u201cSome of those folks might be alive if we had a competent president who actually was paying attention and doing their homework and actually trying to make things better as opposed to telling people go ahead and inject bleach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">At his own rally Tuesday night in Greensboro, North Carolina, Trump lashed out at Obama, calling him \u201ca real jerk\u201d and a \u201cdivider.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"gnt_ar_b_mt\">Harris reaffirms support for Biden<\/h2>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Harris continued her defense of Biden in an interview with NBC Tuesday, saying she would not take back her support of the president\u2019s acuity in the wake of his campaign-ending debate performance in June.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside aria-label=\"advertisement\" class=\"gnt_m gnt_x gnt_x__lbl gnt_x__al\"\/>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u201cIt was a bad debate. People have bad debates,\u201d Harris told NBC\u2019s Hallie Jackson.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">In his debate with Trump over the summer, Biden struggled with a hoarse voice, at times stumbling over words and appearing to lose his train of thought. He still claims falsely that the election was stolen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u201cThis is a person, Donald Trump, who tried to undo a free and fair election, who still denies the will of the people, who incited a violent mob to attack the United States Capitol and 140 law enforcement officers were attacked. Some were killed,\u201d Harris said. \u201cThis is a serious matter. The American people are, at this point, two weeks out, being presented with a very, very serious decision about what will be the future of our country.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside aria-label=\"advertisement\" class=\"gnt_m gnt_x gnt_x__lbl gnt_x__al\"\/>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\"><em>\u2013Michael Collins<\/em><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"gnt_ar_b_mt\"><strong>Harris says she does not believe in \u2018concessions\u2019 on abortion<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Harris suggested that she would not compromise on protecting abortion rights, in an interview with NBC News Tuesday evening.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u201cI don\u2019t think we should be making concessions when we\u2019re talking about a fundamental freedom to make decisions about your own body,\u201d Harris told NBC\u2019s Hallie Jackson.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">When pressed whether she would offer more moderate Republicans, such as Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, an \u201colive branch\u201d on the issue, Harris said she was \u201cnot going to engage in hypotheticals.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Reproductive rights have been central to Harris\u2019 campaign, as abortion is likely to be top of mind for many voters in the first presidential election since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. The vice president will be in Texas Friday, in a state with some of the country\u2019s most restrictive abortion laws, talking about the \u201cconsequences of these bans on women\u2019s lives,\u201d according to her campaign.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside aria-label=\"advertisement\" class=\"gnt_m gnt_x gnt_x__lbl gnt_x__al\"\/>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\"><em>\u2212 Savannah Kuchar\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"gnt_ar_b_mt\">Tulsi Gabbard joins Republican party<\/h2>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, said she is joining the Republican party, making the announcement during a Trump rally in North Carolina Tuesday evening.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u201cIt is because of my love for our country and specifically because of the leadership that President Trump has brought to transform the Republican party and bring it back to the party of the people and the party of peace,\u201d Gabbard said on stage alongside Trump.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Gabbard served in Congress from 2013 to 2021 as a member of the Democratic party and ran in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary.
