It\u2019s part of a strategy to attract adults and reestablish its relevance amid a broader <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/10\/16\/business\/tostitos-chips-shrinkflation-pepsi\/index.html\">decline in snacking<\/a> following a pandemic peak.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2kjeg9n00073b6mdlwodr5y@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Despite rebranding as a popular seafood menu item, the recipe and appearance of the snack aren\u2019t changing. Goldfish explained in a press release that the \u201cmuch more adult\u201d name is to \u201creinforce that Goldfish crackers are not just for kids,\u201d pointing to the growth of trends popularized by Gen Z and Millennials on TikTok such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/07\/11\/health\/girl-dinner-tiktok-trend-wellness\/index.html\">making \u201cgirl dinners.\u201d<\/a>\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2kkor0l000n3b6mct7z1388@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cWe know\u00a0Goldfish\u00a0are a lunchbox icon, but the truth is, they\u2019re loved by snackers of all ages. So, as a playful reminder, we went ahead and gave our iconic cheddar cracker a new, fun, grown-up name,\u201d Danielle Brown, vice president of\u00a0Goldfish, told CNN.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2kkqvbe000r3b6mrhrmt9dd@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            But the Chilean Sea Bass snacks won\u2019t appear on shelves: Bags featuring the branding are only being <a href=\"https:\/\/shop.goldfishsmiles.com\/password\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sold online beginning<\/a> Wednesday and just for one week. Goldfish reminds people that the traditionally branded bags are still available, \u201cnow and always,\u201d at retailers nationwide.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2klaj5h001g3b6m5wq8zsen@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            In fact, the tweaked name is a nod to its roots. Pepperidge Farm launched Goldfish in the United States in 1962 initially aimed at adults as a bar snack. Since the 1990s, however, Goldfish has been sold as a snack for kids, with playful packaging.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2klnouv001l3b6m0sx0zjom@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The clever stunt is a simple way to remind customers that Goldfish exist amid growing competition from upstarts, according to Nate Rosen, the founder of <a href=\"https:\/\/expresscheckout.co\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Express Checkout<\/a>, a newsletter that tracks consumer packaged goods trends.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2klubyd001r3b6mibps3b9j@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cWith so many new brands creating trendy-looking and better-for-you versions of consumers\u2019 favorite childhood snacks, I think it\u2019s a clear indication that they need to be reminded of their beloved classics that inspired these copycats,\u201d he told CNN.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2kkwyqo00123b6mqzjzu11m@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Goldfish has been expanding beyond its flagship crackers in recent years as part of Campbell Company\u2019s push to make it a $1 billion brand that\u2019s not just known for soup.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2kl8il9001d3b6mr927kbb5@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Last year, the company invested <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foodprocessing.com\/business-of-food-beverage\/plant-expansion\/news\/33008778\/campbell-soup-co-to-invest-160-million-to-increase-goldfish-cracker-capacity-in-utah\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$160 million<\/a> in a Pepperidge Farm factory that grew production of the fish-shaped cracker to meet increasing consumer demand.
