(Starbase is the location in south Texas where Starship launches are performed.)<\/p>\n<aside class=\"hawk-nest\" data-block-type=\"embed\" data-render-type=\"fte\" data-skip=\"dealsy\" data-widget-type=\"seasonal\"\/>\n<p>&#8220;Flight 6 Super Heavy booster moved to the Starbase pad for testing,&#8221; SpaceX representatives <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SpaceX\/status\/1848831595014459513\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SpaceX\/status\/1848831595014459513\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote on X<\/a>, formerly Twitter, noting they had only just returned the last Super Heavy booster from a launch one week before. During that flight, the Super Heavy first stage was <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/spacex-starship-flight-5-launch-super-heavy-booster-catch-success-video\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/spacex-starship-flight-5-launch-super-heavy-booster-catch-success-video\">caught by launch tower &#8220;chopsticks&#8221;<\/a> seven minutes after liftoff as the Starship upper stage (known as Starship, or Ship) flew into suborbital space. The first moon landing effort of Artemis with astronauts, known as <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/artemis-3-moon-landing-mission\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/artemis-3-moon-landing-mission\">Artemis 3<\/a>, may happen as soon as 2026.<\/p>\n<div id=\"slice-container-newsletterForm-articleInbodyContent-Vh5tEwCwV2EHN3YPfskYPP\" class=\"slice-container newsletter-inbodyContent-slice newsletterForm-articleInbodyContent-Vh5tEwCwV2EHN3YPfskYPP slice-container-newsletterForm\">\n<div data-hydrate=\"true\" class=\"newsletter-form__wrapper newsletter-form__wrapper--inbodyContent\">\n<div class=\"newsletter-form__container\">\n<section class=\"newsletter-form__top-bar\"\/>\n<section class=\"newsletter-form__main-section\">\n<p class=\"newsletter-form__strapline\">Breaking space news, the latest updates on rocket launches, skywatching events and more!<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>NASA officials have been praising the pace of Starship&#8217;s progress after each launch, while noting the program still has a way to go before sending humans aloft.<\/p>\n<p>Artemis 3 was delayed in January this year to <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/nasa-artemis-2-moon-mission-delay-september-2025\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/nasa-artemis-2-moon-mission-delay-september-2025\">a September 2026 launch<\/a>, roughly a year past when the mission was expected to fly. Starship development was partly the cause, but there were also technical issues with NASA&#8217;s <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/27824-orion-spacecraft.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/27824-orion-spacecraft.html\">Orion crew spacecraft<\/a>, the spacesuits built by private industry, and other things.<\/p>\n<p>Starship will need to demonstrate &#8220;a significant number of launches&#8221; ahead of Artemis program activities, NASA associate administrator Jim Free said <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/nasa-artemis-2-moon-crew-spacex-starship-invitation\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/nasa-artemis-2-moon-crew-spacex-starship-invitation\">in June 2023<\/a>.
