{"id":117745,"date":"2024-10-24T07:52:48","date_gmt":"2024-10-24T00:52:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=117745"},"modified":"2024-10-24T07:52:48","modified_gmt":"2024-10-24T00:52:48","slug":"harris-decries-trump-after-john-kelly-says-he-wanted-generals-like-hitlers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=117745","title":{"rendered":"Harris decries Trump after John Kelly says he wanted generals like Hitler&#8217;s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 Kamala Harris said Wednesday that comments praising Adolf Hitler reportedly made by Donald Trump to his longest-serving chief of staff offer a window into who the former president \u201creally is\u201d and the kind of commander in chief he would be.<\/p>\n<p>In interviews with The New York Times and The Atlantic published Tuesday, John Kelly warned that the Republican nominee meets the definition of a fascist and that while in office he suggested that the Nazi leader \u201cdid some good things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harris, the vice president and Democratic nominee, repeated her increasingly dire warnings about Trump\u2019s mental fitness and his intentions for the presidency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a window into who Donald Trump really is, from the people who know him best, from the people who have worked with him side by side in the Oval Office and in the Situation Room,\u201d Harris told reporters outside the vice president\u2019s residence in Washington.<\/p>\n<p>The comments from Kelly, the retired Marine general who worked for Trump in the White House from 2017 to 2019, built on past warnings from former top Trump officials as the election enters its final two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly has long been critical of Trump and previously accused him of <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-election-veterans-outrage-comments-history-cc0d20132abc7c1d8e33cba23ba1996b\">calling veterans<\/a><\/span> killed in combat \u201csuckers\u201d and \u201closers.\u201d His new warnings emerged as Trump seeks a second term vowing to <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-military-border-civil-unrest-domestic-use-a136c69cc85184b07f161c4c09b46c50\">dramatically expand his use of the military<\/a><\/span> at home and suggesting he would use force to go after Americans he considers \u201cenemies from within.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe commented more than once that, \u2018You know, Hitler did some good things, too,\u2019\u201d Kelly <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/10\/22\/us\/politics\/john-kelly-trump-fitness-character.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recalled to the Times<\/a><\/span>. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying \u201cnothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good,\u201d but Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.<\/p>\n<p>In his <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/politics\/archive\/2024\/10\/trump-military-generals-hitler\/680327\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview with The Atlantic<\/a><\/span>, Kelly recalled that when Trump raised the idea of needing \u201cGerman generals,\u201d Kelly would ask if he meant \u201cBismarck\u2019s generals,\u201d referring to Otto von Bismarck, the chancellor who oversaw the unification of Germany. \u201cSurely you can\u2019t mean Hitler\u2019s generals,\u201d Kelly recalled asking Trump. To which the former president responded, \u201cYeah, yeah, Hitler\u2019s generals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump said on his Truth Social media platform that Kelly had \u201cmade up a story\u201d and went on to heap insults on his former chief of staff, including that Kelly\u2019s \u201ctoughness morphed into weakness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s campaign also denied the accounts. Campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said Kelly had \u201cbeclowned himself with these debunked stories he has fabricated\u201d and, after Harris\u2019 statement, accused the Democratic candidate of sharing \u201coutright lies and falsehoods.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chris Sununu, New Hampshire\u2019s Republican governor and onetime Trump critic, said Kelly\u2019s comments did not change his plans to vote for the former president.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLook, we\u2019ve heard a lot of extreme things about Donald Trump, from Donald Trump. It\u2019s really par for the course,\u201d the governor told CNN. \u201cUnfortunately, with a guy like that, it\u2019s kind of baked into the vote at this point.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some of the former president\u2019s supporters in swing states responded to Kelly\u2019s comments with a shrug.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrump did his four years, and we were in great shape. Kelly didn\u2019t have anything good to say about Trump. Learn more.\" data-align-center=\"\">\n<div class=\"Infobox-items RichTextBody\">\n<p><b>What to know about the 2024 Election<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Harris said Wednesday that Trump admired Hitler\u2019s generals because he \u201cdoes not want a military that is loyal to the United States Constitution, he wants a military that is loyal to him. He wants a military who will be loyal to him personally.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Polls show the race is tight in swing states, and both Trump and Harris are crisscrossing the country making their final pitches to the sliver of undecided voters. Harris\u2019 campaign has spent considerable time reaching out to independent voters, using the support of longtime Republicans such as former Rep. Liz Cheney and comments like Kelly\u2019s to urge past Trump voters to reject his candidacy in November.<\/p>\n<p>Harris\u2019 campaign held a call with reporters Tuesday to elevate the voices of retired military officials who highlighted how <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/former-trump-officials-criticize-2024-e202861911ab37cadfcf058b5b163fb9\">many of the officials who worked with Trump now oppose his campaign<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople that know him best are most opposed to him, his presidency,\u201d said retired Army Brig. Gen. Steve Anderson.<\/p>\n<p>Anderson said he wished Kelly would fully back Harris over Trump, something he has yet to do. But retired Army Reserve Col. Kevin Carroll, a former senior counselor to Kelly, said Wednesday that the former top Trump official would \u201crather chew broken glass than vote for Donald Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Before serving as Trump\u2019s chief of staff, Kelly worked as the former president\u2019s secretary of homeland security, where he oversaw Trump\u2019s attempts to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. Kelly was also at the forefront of the administration\u2019s crackdown in immigration policy that led to the separation of thousands of immigrant parents and their children along the southern border. Those actions made him a villain to many on the left, including Harris.<\/p>\n<p>After Kelly left the Trump administration and <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/dc26365872f54193bac677ffed3d4d2d\">joined the board<\/a><\/span> of a company operating the nation\u2019s largest detention center for unaccompanied migrant children, Harris wrote during her 2019 run for president that he was \u201cthe architect\u201d of the administration\u2019s \u201ccruel child separation policy. Now he will profit off the separation of families. It\u2019s unethical. We are better than this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When she was in Miami for a primary debate in June 2019, Harris was also one of a dozen Democratic presidential candidates who visited the detention center south of the city and protested against the administration\u2019s harsh treatment of young migrants.<\/p>\n<p>In his interview with the Times, Kelly also said Trump met the definition of a fascist. After reading the definition aloud, including that fascism was \u201ca far-right authoritarian, ultranationalist political ideology and movement characterized by a dictatorial leader,\u201d Kelly concluded Trump \u201ccertainly falls into the general definition of fascist, for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kelly added that Trump often fumed at any attempt to constrain his power, and that \u201che would love to be\u201d a dictator.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe certainly prefers the dictator approach to government,\u201d Kelly told the Times, adding later, \u201cI think he\u2019d love to be just like he was in business \u2014 he could tell people to do things and they would do it, and not really bother too much about whether what the legalities were and whatnot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kelly is not the first former top Trump administration official to cast the former president as a threat.<\/p>\n<p>Retired Army Gen. Mark A. Milley, who served as Trump\u2019s chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/nation\/2024\/10\/12\/mark-milley-donald-trump-fascist\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told Bob Woodward in his recent book \u201cWar\u201d<\/a><\/span> that Trump was \u201cfascist to the core\u201d and \u201cthe most dangerous person to this country.\u201d And retired Gen. Jim Mattis, who worked as secretary of defense under Trump, <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thebulwark.com\/p\/mattis-told-woodward-he-agreed-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reportedly later told Woodward<\/a><\/span> that he agreed with Milley\u2019s assessment.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout Trump\u2019s political rise, the businessman-turned-politician benefited from the support of military veterans.<\/p>\n<p>AP VoteCast <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/military-veterans-vote-trump-biden-2024-d9f5fa302b0b240e8cfa13267986e0a6\">found<\/a><\/span> that about 6 in 10 military veterans said they voted for Trump in 2020, as did just over half of those with a veteran in the household. Among voters in this year\u2019s South Carolina Republican primary, AP VoteCast found that close to two-thirds of military veterans and people in veteran households voted for Trump over former South Carolina Gov.
