Measures outlined in current NDCs, which haven\u2019t been fully implemented, would bring that down to between 2.6C and 2.8C.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Even the best-case scenario of 2.6C, however, represents \u201ccatastrophic\u201d warming with \u201cdebilitating impacts to people, planet and economies,\u201d the U.N. warns.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Under all three scenarios, the world\u2019s chances of limiting warming to 1.5C are \u201cvirtually zero,\u201d the authors write, with global temperatures \u201cwell above\u201d that level by 2050 and a \u201cone-in-three chance that warming already exceeds 2C by then.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"qgDdc\" aria-label=\"qgDdc\" id=\"datawrapper-chart-qgDdc\" src=\"https:\/\/datawrapper.dwcdn.net\/qgDdc\/1\/\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"100%\" data-external=\"1\"><br \/>\n<\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p>To get on track toward 1.5C, global emissions ought to fall 42 percent by 2030, or 28 percent for a pathway to 2C \u2014\u00a0a message also included in last year\u2019s report, aptly titled \u201cBroken Record.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The new NDCs \u2014\u00a0due in February 2025 \u2014 are meant to include measures and targets up to the year 2035.
