{"id":118049,"date":"2024-10-25T03:14:46","date_gmt":"2024-10-24T20:14:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=118049"},"modified":"2024-10-25T03:14:46","modified_gmt":"2024-10-24T20:14:46","slug":"second-dose-of-this-years-covid-vaccine-recommended-for-some-people-age-65-and-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=118049","title":{"rendered":"Second dose of this year&#8217;s COVID vaccine recommended for some people age 65 and up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<p>Immunocompromised people who are age 65 or older should get a second dose of the <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/covid-vaccine-fall-2024-fda\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine<\/a><\/span>, according to the latest recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/media\/releases\/2024\/s1023-covid-19-vaccine.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">a statement<\/a> released Wednesday, the CDC said the second dose should be received six months after the first dose.<\/p>\n<p>The CDC also said its recommendations allow for flexibility for those who are moderately or severely immunocompromised to consider additional doses (three or more). in consultation with their health care provider.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"newsletter_signup \">\n<figure class=\"embed embed--type-newsletter-widget embed--float-none embed--size-large embed--type-iframe\" data-ads=\"{\" wordcount=\"\">\n<\/figure>\n<\/aside>\n<p>In August, the Food and Drug Administration greenlit <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/covid-vaccine-fall-2024-fda\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">updated COVID-19 vaccines<\/a><\/span> from Pfizer and Moderna for the 2024 fall season. The updated shots were revised to target the\u00a0<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/flirt-covid-variants-us-cases\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">KP.2 variant<\/a><\/span> of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, and medical experts say it will also provide protection against other recent strains.<\/p>\n<p>This was part of a now-annual process undertaken by the FDA and health authorities around the world to update the vaccines to protect against <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/xec-covid-variant-symptoms-states-what-to-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">newer strains<\/a><\/span> of the virus.<\/p>\n<p>Similar to previous seasons, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/media\/releases\/2024\/s-t0627-vaccine-recommendations.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">recommends<\/a>\u00a0that all Americans ages 6 months and older get a shot of the updated 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine to protect against another expected surge of the virus this fall and winter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Still, as another\u00a0<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/new-cdc-website-shows-if-covid-or-flu-is-on-the-rise-in-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">fall virus season<\/a><\/span> approaches, not everyone is following the CDC&#8217;s advice.
