Today\u2019s report\/newsletter adds that the \u201cmodel isn\u2019t showing the performance gains the Demis Hassabis-led team had hoped for,\u201d but it appears that this \u201ctrend is happening across companies developing leading, large models.\u201d Beyond that, there are no other details on what functionality to expect.<\/p>\n<p>Last December, Google detailed Gemini 1.0 and made 1.0 Pro available through Bard (before the rename), while Nano came to the Pixel 8 Pro. In February of this year, <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5google.com\/2024\/02\/08\/google-gemini-advanced\/\">1.0 Ultra<\/a> became available in Gemini Advanced.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This new model would follow <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5google.com\/2024\/02\/15\/gemini-1-5-announcement\/\">Gemini 1.5<\/a> in February with its expanded context window, with gemini.google.com subscribers getting access to it in May.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>By \u201cwidely release,\u201d Google might be planning to replicate that two-prong availability for both developers and end users. Meanwhile, we\u2019re still waiting for <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5google.com\/2024\/05\/14\/gemini-live\/\">Project Astra<\/a> to launch and add camera\/vision capabilities to Gemini Live. It\u2019s unclear how Google will balance both announcements.<\/p>\n<p>OpenAI is also rumored to release its next flagship model in December, though the company has denied <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2024\/10\/24\/24278999\/openai-plans-orion-ai-model-release-december\"><em>The Verge\u2019s<\/em><\/a> report.
