And we&#8217;ve done that through two games.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>James, a 22-year veteran, isn&#8217;t exactly admitting he is slowing down, however. Look no further than his answer to being asked if he would play Saturday on the second night of a back-to-back against the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"e266c4ea-9af3-1bd8-06fb-fd608fd30e26\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/team\/_\/name\/sac\/sacramento-kings\">Sacramento Kings<\/a> as evidence.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I plan on playing every game [this season],&#8221; James said. &#8220;We&#8217;ll see what happens if I don&#8217;t.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>L.A. clawed back from an early 22-point deficit against the Suns, with Davis, James and <a data-player-guid=\"8a9d9e1c-6174-0009-4883-3b4e16b492d0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4066457\/austin-reaves\">Austin Reaves<\/a> (26 points, 8 assists, 3 steals) leading the charge.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What he&#8217;s been doing is kind of, it&#8217;s unreal, obviously, but I expect him to go dominate the game in many facets,&#8221; Reaves said of Davis. &#8220;I&#8217;m just lucky to have him as a teammate.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And Lakers fans, it would appear, should feel fortunate to have JJ Redick as their coach.<\/p>\n<p>One would have to rattle off as many names as Davis did &#8212; Darvin Ham, Frank Vogel, Luke Walton, Byron Scott, Mike D&#8217;Antoni and Mike Brown &#8212; before mentioning the last coach to lead the franchise to a 2-0 start: Phil Jackson in 2010-11.<\/p>\n<p>Redick, like the rest of the team, passed on the credit to Davis, too.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s an intentionality to have [Davis] involved as much as possible,&#8221; Redick said. &#8220;We recognize what type of player he is and that he can create mismatches. &#8230; There&#8217;s a comfort level and a confidence level that he has that if the game starts getting wacky, he knows the ball is going to come back to him. &#8230; The ball is going to find him.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<br \/><div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1660802\">\r\n<\/div>\r\n<script>(function(w,q){w[q]=w[q]||[];w[q].push([\"_mgc.load\"])})(window,\"_mgq\");\r\n<\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/story\/_\/id\/42008536\/anthony-davis-stays-hot-scores-35-lakers-improve-2-0\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dave McMenamin, ESPN Staff WriterOct 26, 2024, 03:05 AM ET Close Lakers and NBA reporter for ESPN.
