He\u2019s pretty spot on because the only thing that\u2019s certain in life is death\u2026 and taxes, as the idiom goes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">While <a class=\"anchor_link__6t7IO\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ladbible.com\/news\/health\/five-signs-body-needs-more-nutrients-860829-20241025\">eating a well-balanced diet<\/a>, not smoking cigarettes and enjoying an active lifestyle may potentially <a class=\"anchor_link__6t7IO\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ladbible.com\/news\/health\/doctor-how-to-live-longer-tips-990279-20240920\">increase your life expectancy<\/a>, death does eventually come knocking.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">But thanks to <a class=\"anchor_link__6t7IO\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ladbible.com\/science\">medical advancements<\/a> and documented economic growth the modern-day human\u2019s life span is much longer than our <a class=\"anchor_link__6t7IO\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ladbible.com\/history\/pages\/1\">ancestors<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">The Office for National Statistics <a class=\"anchor_link__6t7IO\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ons.gov.uk\/peoplepopulationandcommunity\/birthsdeathsandmarriages\/lifeexpectancies\/bulletins\/nationallifetablesunitedkingdom\/2020to2022\">claims<\/a> life expectancy at birth in the UK from 2020 to 2022 was 78.6 years for males and 82.6 years for females.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">This beats out the US, where it sits at around 74.8 years and 80.2 years for males and females, respectively.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">But just because there\u2019s an average doesn\u2019t mean there aren\u2019t anomalies, just look at Jeanne Calment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">The Frenchwoman was at the ripe old age of 122 when she died in 1997, making her a supercentenarian &#8211; a person who is 110 years or older.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">While most people get nowhere near that, the question of just how long the human body theoretically can survive is one of science\u2019s most pressing questions.<\/p>\n<div class=\"anchor_link__6t7IO\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ladbible.com\/science\">researchers<\/a> from Singapore biotech company Gero and the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, New York, studied human resilience and the body&#8217;s ability to recover from damage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Using <a class=\"anchor_link__6t7IO\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ladbible.com\/artificial-intelligence\">AI<\/a>, they combed through the medical data of hundreds of thousands of volunteers to estimate a human&#8217;s maximum lifespan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Factoring in age, illness and lifestyle factors, they found that somewhere between 120 and 150 years, the human body&#8217;s ability to recover completely gave out, meaning that a person couldn&#8217;t really survive beyond then.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Other studies into the science of ageing suggest the record for the world&#8217;s oldest person will probably be broken again by 2100, but not everyone&#8217;s going to be making it past Calment\u2019s grand old age.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Meanwhile, drugs which could try to slow down the body&#8217;s ageing process and <a class=\"anchor_link__6t7IO\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ladbible.com\/news\/drugs-that-could-let-humans-live-to-200-are-being-developed-20220628\">theoretically let someone live for up to 200 years are being tested<\/a>, but the idea that we&#8217;re all about to live to 200 is a long way off.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-image_articleImage__eyzAn\">\n<div could always hope that space travel advances to the point where you could move to another planet we discovered <a class=\"anchor_link__6t7IO\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ladbible.com\/news\/lp-8909b-planet-super-earth-age-29649-20220913\">where people could live over 3,000 years<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Although, that\u2019s because that planet has much shorter years, orbiting its sun once every 2.7 Earth days.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">While you could technically call that living for plenty of years, by human standards it&#8217;d be cheating, and it wouldn&#8217;t make you live longer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Still, if you could make it to 150 that&#8217;d count as pretty good innings, and maybe by then we&#8217;d have invented a way for people to actually live forever &#8211; perhaps as robots.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><script async
