Justice Coalition, and was part of a small group of grassroots organizers that NPR convened last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen she speaks on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2024\/09\/27\/nx-s1-5127374\/harris-arizona-border-migration-asylum\">border<\/a>, she speaks a lot on drugs, crime \u2014 that kind of thing \u2014 when it\u2019s much Bernie Sanders\u2019 2016 campaign. But he doesn\u2019t think that argument alone is enough to seal the deal. He said he\u2019s still upset by the images of suffering in Gaza that he sees on social media, but he feels more optimistic for change with Harris.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wanted the Democratic party to earn my vote,\u201d he said. \u201cAt this current juncture \u2013 they\u2019re doing a way better job than what they were.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some of the activists said they feel like Harris might be more willing to listen to different, younger perspectives. But they don\u2019t like her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2024\/10\/04\/nx-s1-5140179\/kamala-harris-arab-americans-michigan\">continued unconditional support<\/a> for Israel as it wages war in Gaza and now Lebanon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not like I\u2019m so gung-ho,\u201d Weonhee Shin said. \u201cI don\u2019t even have a sign in front of my house, because I\u2019m not super excited. Trump wins.<\/p>\n<p>This week, Harris added a new line to her stump speech at massive rallies she held in Atlanta and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2024\/10\/25\/nx-s1-5164491\/donald-trump-joe-rogan-texas-kamala-harris-beyonce\">Houston<\/a>, and again in Kalamazoo with Obama \u2014 a line aimed directly at young voters who feel strongly about climate change and gun violence prevention, but who are disillusioned with politics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI see you. I see you,\u201d she said. \u201cI&#8217;ve seen what you do, and I see how you are doing it, because you are rightly impatient for change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s a sentiment that Rev. Gerald Durley, 82, shares when he talks to voters across Georgia, as he works to get out the vote for Harris \u2014 that change takes time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is what I say to young people,\u201d the civil rights leader said, showing off a black t-shirt he had custom made, emblazoned with the words: \u201cIf I can, you can.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I can vote for 65 years \u2014 you can vote for 15 more days.
