A cooling geopolitical situation also aided risk sentiment.<\/p>\n<p>Weekend airstrikes by Israel against Iran <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/10\/25\/israeli-military-launches-strikes-on-military-targets-in-iran-officials-say.html\">did not target oil or nuclear facilities<\/a> as was feared and <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"LiveBlogArticle-QuoteInBody-2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@CL.1\/\">oil futures<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> were lower in early trading.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"LiveBlogArticle-QuoteInBody-3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@DJ.1\/\">Futures tied to the Dow<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> Jones Industrial Average added 146 points, or 0.3%. <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"LiveBlogArticle-QuoteInBody-4\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@SP.1\/\">S&amp;P 500 futures<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> gained 0.4% and <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"LiveBlogArticle-QuoteInBody-5\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@ND.1\/\">Nasdaq 100 futures<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> increased by 0.5%.<\/p>\n<p>The market was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/10\/24\/stock-market-today-live-updates.html\">split at the end of last week<\/a>. On Friday the tech-heavy <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"LiveBlogArticle-QuoteInBody-7\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.IXIC\/\">Nasdaq Composite<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> jumped to a new intraday all-time high, rising 0.56% to close at 18,518.61. On the flip side, the <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"LiveBlogArticle-QuoteInBody-8\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.DJI\/\">Dow<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> shed 259.96 points, or 0.61%, to close at 42,114.40. The broad-market <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"LiveBlogArticle-QuoteInBody-9\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.SPX\/\">S&amp;P 500<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> inched lower by 0.03% to 5,808.12.<\/p>\n<p>Both the Dow and S&amp;P snapped a six-week winning streak, but the Nasdaq eked out its seventh positive week in a row.<\/p>\n<p>Wall Street is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/10\/25\/stock-market-next-week-outlook-for-october-28-november-1-2024.html\">bracing for a big week in markets<\/a> that will mark <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/10\/27\/earnings-playbook-busiest-week-of-the-season-includes-apple-and-amazon.html\">busiest week of third-quarter earnings reporting season<\/a> and the final week before the Nov. 5 U.S. Presidential election.
