The director mocked Kendrick\u2019s improv skills, only for said skills to end up being featured in the film\u2019s trailer months later. Kendrick got the last laugh.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI remember a director once in a room full of 100 extras or something being like, \u2018Hey, on this next one just try something. Just make something up. Just improv something,&#8217;\u201d Kenrick recalled. \u201cAnd I did it and then the director called cut and came over and, once again in front of 100 extras, was like, \u2018Oof, let\u2019s go back to the script!&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cIt really felt like a very specific power move thing to embarrass me, to gain dominance. It was very icky,\u201d Kendrick added of the situation. \u201cAnd then the thing that I improved ended up in the trailer. So fuck you!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tKendrick did not name the director or the film, but her story shocked the \u201cHappy Sad Confused\u201d live audience as they gasped when it was revealed how the filmmaker dissed to her. The crowd then roared with cheers when Kendrick told off the director.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe \u201cPitch Perfect\u201d star is now a director herself thanks to the release of \u201cWoman of the Hour,\u201d which marks Kendrick\u2019s feature directorial debut. She spoke to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2024\/film\/features\/anna-kendrick-woman-of-the-hour-director-vulnerability-memoir-1236182439\/\">Variety<\/a><\/em> about how embarking on her first press tour as a filmmaker was such a strange experience.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s a lot easier for me to talk in extreme detail about certain moments in certain scenes, or about movies that were inspirations than it is to answer the questions that come up the most frequently \u2014 \u2018Why this project? Why did you want to direct?\u2019\u201d\u00a0Kendrick said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI think there is a bit of an expectation that I speak quite eloquently about the unique experience of being a female director,\u201d she added. \u201cAnd then you\u2019re going, \u2018I\u2019ve done this one time.
