Marc Webb (\u201cThe Amazing Spider-Man,\u201d Disney\u2019s upcoming \u201cSnow White\u201d) is directing for Lionsgate. The studio is launching international sales at AFM.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201c\u2019Day Drinker\u2019\u00a0combines a highly commercial concept with wildly outrageous twists and turns all set in an incredible world, and there is no better filmmaker than Marc or two more perfectly cast actors than Johnny and Pen\u00e9lope to bring that world to life,\u201d Adam Fogelson, Lionsgate\u2019s Motion Picture Group chair said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe film will be produced by Thunder Road\u2019s Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, who backed the \u201cJohn Wick\u201d franchise for Lionsgate. Additional producers include Adam Kolbrenner, whose credits include \u201cThe Tomorrow War\u201d and \u201cFree Guy,\u201d and Zach Dean, who wrote the original spec screenplay and previously penned \u201cFast X\u201d and \u201cThe Tomorrow War.\u201d The film is executive produced by 30West. Chelsea Kujawa is overseeing the project for Lionsgate. Dan Freedman negotiated the deals for the studio.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cDay Drinker\u201d marks Depp\u2019s return to Hollywood following his high-profile legal battles with ex-wife Amber Heard. After\u00a0losing a 2020 U.K. libel case involving Heard\u2019s abuse allegations, he was forced to exit from the \u201cFantastic Beasts\u201d franchise. Depp won a subsequent defamation trial in the U.S. in 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDepp recently secured his first leading role in years in 2023\u2019s \u201cJeanne du Barry\u201d and directed \u201cModi, Three Days on the Wing of Madness,\u201d which premiered at this year\u2019s San Sebasti\u00e1n International Film Festival. At last year\u2019s Cannes Film Festival to promote \u201cJeanne du Barry,\u201d Depp appeared to have mixed feelings about his years-long absence from Hollywood films.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cDid I feel boycotted by Hollywood? You\u2019d have to not have a pulse to feel like, \u2018No. None of this is happening.
