But if you thought Apple would change that with the new Magic Mouse launched today, we have some bad news. Although it now has USB-C, the charging port is still on the bottom of the mouse.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-975529\"\/><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-usb-c-port-of-the-new-magic-mouse-is-still-on-the-bottom\">USB-C port of the new Magic Mouse is still on the bottom<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2024\/10\/28\/apple-unveils-m4-imac-in-new-colors-nano-texture-display-option-more\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Along with the new M4 iMac<\/a>, Apple announced on Monday <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2024\/10\/28\/apple-brings-usb-c-to-new-magic-keyboard-magic-trackpad-and-magic-mouse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">new versions of its \u201cMagic\u201d accessories for the Mac<\/a>, including a new Magic Mouse, Keyboard and Trackpad. <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2024\/10\/21\/new-magic-mouse-trackpad-keyboard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">As we predicted<\/a>, the new versions are pretty much identical to the previous ones, except that they now feature a USB-C charging port instead of Lightning.<\/p>\n<p>But what about one of the most criticized aspects of Magic Mouse? At the time, the mouse was powered by removable batteries, so users could simply swap out the batteries and keep using the mouse. In 2015, Apple launched Magic Mouse 2 with the same design, but now with an internal rechargeable battery.<\/p>\n<p>The Lightning port for recharging was placed on the bottom of the mouse, which resulted in a lot of criticism from users. There\u2019s no way to use the Magic Mouse 2 while it\u2019s charging. Although many argue that recharging the mouse only takes a few minutes, this time can be critical when the battery runs out during work.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years, many people have come up with different solutions for the Magic Mouse design, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=y3lNrRydr4g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cases with the port on the side<\/a> or with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=PVEtx14N6W8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Qi charger support<\/a>. The problem is, Apple blocks Magic Mouse from working when it\u2019s receiving power. This is not the case with the Magic Keyboard or Trackpad, which can be used while charging.<\/p>\n<p>Apple is selling the new USB-C Magic Mouse for $79 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/shop\/product\/MXK53AM\/A\/magic-mouse-usb%E2%80%91c-white-multi-touch-surface?fnode=4051f893716b7f99f945b70cd76ff5dd58f94311829e42c75c8a4286d74b0cec0fa88f862012e38a4de79761299f5810af6ffa9d1b41b75526148a88f50bb8188b2d89966af6b38354f3c0de6ee7df2deb75c2dbb877dc8f1d27e8ef91dc0e28\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">on its website<\/a>, and there\u2019s a black version for $99 (even though they have the same hardware).
