(Al Bello\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>A pair of New York Yankees fans tried their best to stop Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Two Yankees fans sitting in the front row near the foul pole in right field were called for fan interference after they tried to rip Betts\u2019 glove off of his hand as he made a play on a foul ball in <a data-i13n=\"cpos:1;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/mlb\/los-angeles-dodgers-new-york-yankees-441029110\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:Game 4 of the World Series;cpos:1;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Game 4 of the World Series<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Their attempt, which came as Betts was tracking down a fly ball from Gleyber Torres in the bottom of the first inning, was unsuccessful. Betts appeared to have made the play right as the ball reached the first row of seats at Yankee Stadium, and the two fans immediately tried to jump in and steal the ball. One fan actually ripped the ball out of Betts\u2019 glove while apparently trying to pull the glove off of Betts\u2019 hand completely.<\/p>\n<p>Officials quickly called fan interference and granted Betts the out. Security ran up to the fans almost immediately, and the two were seen being walked out of the stands.<\/p>\n<div class=\"twitter-tweet-wrapper\" data-embed-anchor=\"21086667-5509-585d-af21-90bfa5e9baa7\">\n<blockquote placeholder=\"\" data-theme=\"light\" class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p>One Yankees fan, Ana from Connecticut, who was standing nearby, told me she told the guy he was a \u201chero\u201d for trying to break up the play. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a championship game,\u201d she said. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/l5bKHAsRlk\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:pic.twitter.com\/l5bKHAsRlk;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">pic.twitter.com\/l5bKHAsRlk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Rustin Dodd (@rustindodd) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/rustindodd\/status\/1851425796474196421?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:October 30, 2024;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">October 30, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p>The fans were ejected, according to The Athletic. The fan who tried to rip Betts&#8217; glove off was identified as Austin Capobianco, 38. Austin&#8217;s younger brother, Darren, told The Athletic that Betts was swearing at them.<\/p>\n<div class=\"caas-pull-quote-wrapper caas-img caas-lazy\" data-src=\"\">\n<blockquote class=\"caas-blockquote\">\n<p>\u201cI just see the ball kind of \u2014 I don\u2019t want to say [go up for grabs, if that makes sense,\u201d Darren Capobianco said, <a data-i13n=\"cpos:2;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/5884205\/2024\/10\/29\/yankees-fans-interference-ejection-world-series-game-4\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:via The Athletic;cpos:2;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">via The Athletic<\/a>. \u201cAnd then Mookie was swearing at us. Not good.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p>Austin, who is a Yankees season-ticket holder, declined to comment about the incident to The Athletic via text message. He said he just wanted to &#8220;watch the game.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Betts was involved in a similar incident with fans during the ALCS in 2018, when he was with the Boston Red Sox. There have been several incidents of fan interference throughout the postseason, too, <a data-i13n=\"cpos:3;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/world-series-fan-interference-ruling-at-dodger-stadium-keeps-yankees-scoreless-on-pivotal-play-031219365.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:including in Game 1 of the World Series;cpos:3;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">including in Game 1 of the World Series<\/a>, when a fan reached over the outfield wall and caught a Torres fly ball. That play was ruled a double.<\/p>\n<p>The Dodgers entered Tuesday&#8217;s game with a 3-0 lead in the series, and they jumped up 2-0 immediately when <a data-i13n=\"cpos:4;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/freddie-freeman-hits-hr-in-record-sixth-straight-world-series-game-004057332.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:Freddie Freeman hit a two-run homer;cpos:4;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">Freddie Freeman hit a two-run homer<\/a> in the top of the first inning. The Yankees haven\u2019t won since 2009.
