As of Wednesday afternoon, the authorities had grounded some flights and called boats to shore.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cThe typhoon is coming fiercely,\u201d Cho Jung-tai, Taiwan\u2019s premier, said during a visit to the island\u2019s Central Weather Administration on Tuesday. He warned that Kong-rey\u2019s heavy rains could bring landslides and road closures to eastern Taiwan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-2\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Taiwan issued a <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cwa.gov.tw\/V8\/E\/P\/Typhoon\/TY_WARN.html\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">land warning on Wednesday<\/a> over most of the island, according to the Central Weather Administration.
