The NPS said this also includes all trails and trail crossings in that corridor, as well as Heintooga Spur Road to the Masonic marker and the Waterrock Knob Visitor Center and Park Store at milepost 451.2.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The NPS said that the section between milepost 421 to 423.2 will remain closed due to a significant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/landslide-earth-ground-definition-what-is\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">landslide<\/a> that occurred when the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/hurricanes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hurricane<\/a> was ravaging the region.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/extreme-weather\/asheville-mother-loses-son-helene-floods-north-carolina\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><u>ASHEVILLE MOTHER RECOUNTS LAST MOMENTS WITH SON BEFORE HE WAS SWEPT AWAY BY HELENE FLOODS: \u2018HE BECAME MY HERO\u2019<\/u><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"featured featured-video video-ct\">\n<div class=\"video-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"info\">\n<div class=\"caption\">\n<p class=\"sub-text\">Aerial footage captured by the North Carolina National Guard provides a dramatic look at the scope of catastrophic flooding caused by the effects of Hurricane Helene when the deadly storm swept across the Southeast and mid-Atlantic after making landfall in Florida last week.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">&#8220;The Parkway is an important travel corridor for our surrounding communities and a treasured <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/recreation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recreation<\/a> destination,&#8221; Blue Ridge Parkway Superintendent Tracy Swartout <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/blri\/learn\/news\/national-park-service-continues-hurricane-recovery-efforts-as-two-southern-sections-of-blue-ridge-parkway-reopen.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said in a statement<\/a>. &#8220;Opening these additional miles of the Parkway in North Carolina is an important step forward, but much work remains.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The NPS said it expects the Devil&#8217;s Courthouse closure to remain in place for &#8220;an extended period&#8221; while a plan to reconstruct the area continues to be developed.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-news\/nonprofits-local-businesses-helene-flood-victims\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><u>HOW REBUILDING COMMUNITIES FROM HELENE FLOODS COME FROM THE MANY HANDS OF NONPROFITS, LOCAL BUSINESSES<\/u><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"featured featured-video video-ct\">\n<div class=\"video-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"info\">\n<div class=\"caption\">\n<p class=\"sub-text\">Hurricane Helene may have hit a month ago, but cleanup efforts are far from over. The NPS has also said that trail assessments are not yet complete, and caution should be exercised for anyone exploring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/nature\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nature<\/a> in the area.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">This is the second major reopening of an area of the heavily traveled Blue Ridge Parkway in a week.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Last Wednesday, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-news\/blue-ridge-parkway-north-carolina-opens-first-time-since-helene\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nearly 20-mile stretch was reopened for the first time since Hurricane Helene<\/a>.
