{"id":120364,"date":"2024-10-31T07:47:46","date_gmt":"2024-10-31T00:47:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=120364"},"modified":"2024-10-31T07:47:46","modified_gmt":"2024-10-31T00:47:46","slug":"judge-extends-in-person-voting-option-in-pennsylvania-after-trump-lawsuit-us-elections-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=120364","title":{"rendered":"Judge extends in-person voting option in Pennsylvania after Trump lawsuit | US elections 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">A Pennsylvania judge on Wednesday sided with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/donaldtrump\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s campaign and agreed to extend an in-person voting option in suburban Philadelphia, where long lines on the final day led to complaints voters were being disenfranchised by an unprepared election office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">A lawsuit demanding an extension of Tuesday\u2019s 5pm deadline in Bucks county was filed on Wednesday morning after long queues outside the county\u2019s election office on the last day for applications led to security guards cutting off the line and telling some of those waiting they would not be able to apply.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">Videos of the scenes were widely circulated on social media, fuelling rumours of voter suppression.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">The Trump campaign was joined by the Republican National Committee (RNC) and the Republican Senate candidate Dave McCormick in the lawsuit, <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/pennsylvania-early-voting-problems-bucks-lehigh-county-2916b3bf337d39635d63f642435aa1f9\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">alleging<\/a> that voters waiting outside election offices for mail ballots were turned away empty-handed and ordered to leave after the deadline expired at 5pm on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">\u201cThis is a direct violation of Pennsylvanians\u2019 rights to cast their ballot \u2013 and all voters have a right to STAY in line,\u201d the Trump campaign said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">Judge Jeffrey Trauger said in a one-page order that Bucks county voters who want to apply for an early mail ballot now have until Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">The queues for late mail ballots were a result of Pennsylvania not having an early on-site voting system at designated spots, as is the case in some other states. Instead, voters can apply for ballots on demand at election offices before filling them out and submitting them on the spot, a procedure that takes about 10 minutes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">The flood of late applicants overwhelmed electoral workers in Bucks county\u2019s administration building in Doylestown, leading to a long queue, which was cut off at about 2.45pm on Tuesday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/philadelphia\/news\/early-voting-mail-ballot-pennsylvania-how-county\/\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">according to CBS<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">Michael Whatley, the chair of the Republican National Committee, <a href=\"https:\/\/penncapital-star.com\/voting\/rnc-chair-says-trump-campaign-will-sue-bucks-county-over-mail-ballot-confusion\/\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">told a rally<\/a> in Allentown, Pennsylvania on Tuesday that Democratic election officials were trying to suppress Republican votes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">\u201cDemocrat election officials are seeing our numbers. They\u2019re seeing our turnout. They are seeing us breaking early vote records across Pennsylvania,\u201d he said. \u201cThey are terrified. And they want to stop our momentum. We are not going to let them suppress our votes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">In a statement, Bucks county admitted there had been some \u201cmiscommunication\u201d from officials, resulting in those waiting \u201cbriefly being told they could not be accommodated\u201d. But this was subsequently corrected, allowing them to submit applications.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">\u201cContrary to what is being depicted on social media, if you are in line by 5pm for an on-demand mail-in ballot application, you will have the opportunity to submit your application for a mail-in ballot,\u201d the county said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">The legal action raised the prospect of further possible controversy after election day in Pennsylvania \u2013 arguably the most important battleground state in next Tuesday\u2019s election \u2013 after Trump baselessly accused election officials of cheating.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">\u201cPennsylvania is cheating, and getting caught, at large scale levels rarely seen before,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/113396110845104244\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">Trump posted<\/a> on his Truth Social platform, without providing evidence. \u201cREPORT CHEATING TO AUTHORITIES.
