Israeli troops withdrew from the hospital <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/10\/28\/world\/middleeast\/israel-gaza-kamal-adwan-hospital.html\" title=\"\">on Monday<\/a> after a three-day raid during which they arrested most of the medical staff and two children died, Gazan health officials said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The military said the people it detained in that raid were suspected of being fighters with the militant group Hamas, which led the attack on southern Israel last October that set off the war in Gaza. The medical charity Doctors Without Borders said on Thursday that Dr. Mohammed Obeid, an orthopedic surgeon working for the organization, was among those being held.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cWe are extremely alarmed by the detention of our colleague,\u201d the group <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MSF_uk\/status\/1851926165323227379\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a>. \u201cHis work has saved countless lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">On Thursday, Israel repeated its assertion that Hamas \u201chas embedded terrorist infrastructure and operates within the Kamal Adwan Hospital.\u201d Gazan officials have denied that claim.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The Gazan health ministry said that the strike on Thursday had significantly damaged \u201cthe remaining medicines and medical supplies\u201d at the hospital, in the northern town of Jabaliya.
