That was the gamble. But that was my only mistake, not being attached to all of the films.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<em>John Wick<\/em> (2014) grossed more than $86 million worldwide, with the franchise crossing the $1 billion mark last year with <em>John Wick: Chapter 4<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tLongoria\u2019s interview comes after producers <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/chad-stahelski\/\">Chad Stahelski<\/a> and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/david-leitch\/\">David Leitch<\/a> told the outlet about her crucial role in bring the film to the screen after funding fell through on the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/keanu-reeves\/\">Keanu Reeves<\/a>-led action flick at the last minute.<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-content-image \/\/  \">\n<figure class=\"o-figure   size-large alignnone lrv-u-max-width-100p\" style=\"width:100%; I would love to say I was an investment genius and I just knew and I calculated my risk. No, none of that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIt was Longoria\u2019s agency CAA that brought her the opportunity while pulling together funding for the project. \u201cAn agent, and he wasn\u2019t even my agent, he called me and said, \u2018You got money, you should put your money here,&#8217;\u201d she added. \u201cAnd I didn\u2019t even know how a movie was made. I was like, \u2018What do you mean gap financing?&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tNoting she still gets checks for her investment on <em>John Wick<\/em>, Longoria said, \u201cMy husband is friends with the head of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/lionsgate\/\">Lionsgate<\/a>, and he\u2019ll say to him sometimes, \u2018I see we wrote a check to Eva this week.\u2019 But the geniuses were Chad and David and the star that was Keanu. I just wrote the check.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe franchise will continue with <em><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2024\/09\/ballerina-trailer-ana-de-armas-keanu-reeves-1236100461\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">From the World of John Wick: Ballerina<\/a><\/em>, starring <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/ana-de-armas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ana de Armas<\/a> and premiering June 6, 2025 in theaters. Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/donnie-yen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Donnie Yen<\/a> is set to <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2024\/05\/john-wick-spin-off-starring-donnie-yen-in-development-lionsgate-1235917560\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reprise his role<\/a> as the highly skilled, blind assassin Caine in an upcoming Lionsgate film.
