But his shots did not kill Ms. Taylor, a 26-year-old Black woman who worked as an emergency room technician. Two other officers, also white, fired the fatal shots, but neither was charged.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">After the verdict, <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/isaiah_km\/status\/1852535299588440362?s=46&amp;t=8H3FDbkvfJkXNtBv_SrGPg\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Mr. Hankison silently walked out of the federal courthouse<\/a> and stepped into a waiting S.U.V. He declined to answer a reporter\u2019s questions. Mr. Hankison\u2019s lawyers could not immediately be reached.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-1\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced in March.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">It is not the first time that Mr. Hankison has faced a jury in the case. Last year, a judge declared a mistrial after jurors failed to come to a unanimous verdict on federal civil rights charges. He was previously acquitted of similar state charges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Prosecutors argued in the first federal trial that Mr. Hankison did not have legal justification to use deadly force when he fired through a window and sliding glass door covered by blinds, ultimately hitting a neighboring apartment.
