Adviser Kamal Kharrazi said Friday the country could alter its policies on using nuclear weapons if the threat seems big enough. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf an existential threat arises, Iran will modify its nuclear doctrine, we have the capability to build weapons and have no issue in this regard,\u201d Kharrazi told Lebanese media, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/world\/iran-claims-capable-building-nuclear-weapon-ayatollah-vows-tooth-breaking-response-israel-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fox News reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A day earlier, Khamenei reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/10\/31\/world-news\/ayatollah-orders-retaliatory-attack-against-israel-after-idf-strike-deemed-too-big-to-ignore-report\/\">instructed his forces to prepare a direct attack against Israel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>The threats from Iran have grown increasingly menancing since Israel\u2019s Oct. 26 attack on the Islamic Republic that hit multiple military bases and killed at least five, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/khamenei-threatens-israel-and-us-with-a-crushing-response-over-israeli-attack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Times of Israel reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Israeli strikes were a response to Iran firing <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/10\/01\/world-news\/iran-launches-ballistic-missile-attack-on-israel-civilians-ordered-into-bomb-shelters\/\">more than 200 missiles at the Jewish state<\/a> on Oct. 1.<\/p>\n<p>The colorful \u201ctooth-breaking\u201d phrase was translated by some to mean, \u201ccrushing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Khamenei did not elaborate on the potential timing of the attack, or its scope. <\/p>\n<p>Any further attacks between Iran and Israel threaten to push the Middle East into an all-out regional conflict.<\/p>\n<p>The region is already teetering on the edge of a complete crisis thanks to Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip and Israel\u2019s ground offensive against Hezbollah and Lebanon.<\/p>\n<p>Some US troops are currently monitoring\u00a0a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense, or THAAD, anti-missile battery in Israel.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pictured in Tel Aviv last week during the strikes on Iran. <span class=\"credit\">ZUMAPRESS.com<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier is also likely in the Arabian Sea, and Pentagon press secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder said Friday that more destroyers, fighter squadrons, tankers and B-52 long-range bombers would be going to the region to hopefully deter Iran and its allies.<\/p>\n<p>Khamenei sounded more measured in his earlier comments about the conflict, saying that Israel\u2019s Oct. 26 attack \u201cshould not be exaggerated or downplayed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/10\/27\/world-news\/images-show-extent-of-israeli-attack-on-two-secret-iranian-bases\/\"> satellite photos<\/a> showed that the Israeli attack damaged military bases near Tehran linked to Iran\u2019s ballistic missile program, as well as a Revolutionary Guard base used in satellite launches.<\/p>\n<p>Some analysts also believe that Hamas and Hezbollah \u2013 both of which have incurred critical losses at the hands of Israel \u2013\u00a0may want Iran to do more to step up the regional conflict.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview published shortly before Khamenei\u2019s remarks went public, Iranian Revolutionary Guard spokesperson Gen.
