Kamala Harris will protect that for us,\u201d she continued. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe in the need for legal protections that protects the LGBTQ+ community as a gay woman. There were several people in our small town that apparently prayed the gay away and are now in fine relationships with their wives,\u201d Moretz told PorterEdit in 2018. <\/p>\n<p>The actress further opened up about her experience growing up with her brothers, telling Gay Times later that year that she \u201cgrew up fighting on their behalf\u201d because it \u201cbroke my heart to see that yes, they can stand up for themselves, but people wouldn\u2019t listen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I took it upon myself with their blessing to go out there and talk about it, and to tell people, \u2018Hey, being gay is not a big deal at all. But be proud and be out there and raise the flag high.
