The Sony comic book movie declined a franchise-low 49 percent to $26.1 million from 4,131 screens to win an overall quiet weekend heading into the hotly contested presidential race.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe final installment in the <em>Venom<\/em> trilogy has now earned $90 million domestically. Overseas, <em>The Last Dance<\/em> continued to pace well ahead of its domestic earnings \u2014 in keeping with the first two films in the franchise \u2014 grossing another $68.4 million for a foreign tally of $227 million and $317 million globally, which is narrowly ahead of <em>Venom: Let There Be Carnage<\/em> at the same point in their runs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tBut what one had giveth, the other taketh away. Miramax and Sony\u2019s adult drama <em>Here<\/em> \u2014 reuniting Forrest Gump director <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/robert-zemeckis\/\" id=\"auto-tag_robert-zemeckis_1\" data-tag=\"robert-zemeckis\">Robert Zemeckis<\/a> with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/tom-hanks\/\" id=\"auto-tag_tom-hanks_1\" data-tag=\"tom-hanks\">Tom Hanks<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/robin-wright\/\" id=\"auto-tag_robin-wright_1\" data-tag=\"robin-wright\">Robin Wright<\/a> \u2014 could only manage a fifth place finish with an estimated $5 million from 2,642 screens. Nor did<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-reviews\/here-review-tom-hanks-robin-wright-robert-zemeckis-1236045912\/\"> the poorly reviewed film<\/a> make up ground with moviegoers, who gave it a B- CinemaScore (that\u2019s a poor grade for an adult drama with such a high-profile cast). The movie skewed incredibly older, with nearly half the audience over 55.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tMiramax financed the film, which reportedly cost a net $45 million before marketing. Sony picked up domestic rights in exchange for a distribution fee. The story, which employs plenty of special effects to make its stars look younger and older, follows a couple \u2014 and their house \u2014 not only through the decades, but through the millennia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe curiosity of the weekend was Clint Eastwood\u2019s <em>Juror #2<\/em>, which is getting an awards qualifying run in theaters before it goes to Max. It was always intended to go directly to streaming, at least in the U.S., and is the first of Eastwood\u2019s films to not get a traditional theatrical release, prompting plenty of buzz.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tWarners did not release grosses for the film in North America, but did report numbers from overseas, where <em>Juror #2<\/em> took in $5 million from six markets where his movies have done especially well, such as France. The studios says the limited foreign release in a total of eight markets is designed to support the film\u2019s upcoming debut on Max (no streaming date has been announced).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAmong holdovers, DreamWorks Animation and Universal\u2019s <em>The Wild Robot <\/em>is proving to be like a Energizer bunny. It held at No. 2 in its sixth weekend, and was actually up 11 percent. The family film earned another $76 million from 3,232 theaters for a domestic cume and $269 million globally.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tParamount and Temple Hill\u2019s <em>Smile 2<\/em> placed No. 3 in its third outing as it crossed the $100 million mark at the global <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/box-office\/\" id=\"auto-tag_box-office_1\" data-tag=\"box-office\">box office<\/a>. The pic fell 29 percent in North America to $6.8 million for a domestic tally of $52.6 million and $109.7 million (it is unusual for a horror film to travel so well overseas, where the sequel has grossed $57.1 million).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-features\/making-of-conclave-ralph-fiennes-1236048191\/\">Awards contender <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/conclave\/\" id=\"auto-tag_conclave_1\" data-tag=\"conclave\">Conclave<\/a><\/em><\/a> continued to impress, falling only 20 percent in its sophomore outing and moving up the top 10 chart to No. 4 with $5.3 million from 1,796 screens. From FilmNation and Indian Paintbrush, the Oscar hopeful has now earned a promising $15.2 million domestically.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tA24\u2019s awards player <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/we-live-in-time\/\" id=\"auto-tag_we-live-in-time_1\" data-tag=\"we-live-in-time\">We Live in Time<\/a><\/em> came in No. 6 in its third weekend with $3.5 million from 2,964 for a domestic tally of $17.7 million <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tOther films on the awards circuit are platforming more slowly. Neon\u2019s acclaimed <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/anora\/\" id=\"auto-tag_anora_1\" data-tag=\"anora\">Anora<\/a><\/em> earned $1.9 million as it expanded into a total of 253 theaters.Searchlight\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-reviews\/a-real-pain-review-jesse-eisenberg-kieran-culkin-1235794351\/\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/a-real-pain\/\" id=\"auto-tag_a-real-pain_1\" data-tag=\"a-real-pain\">A Real Pain<\/a><\/em><\/a> was anything but a pain in its opening in four theaters in New York and Los Angeles. The film reported a per-theater location average of $60,000, the third best of the year so far (<em>Anora<\/em> is No. 1 in that regard).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tMost Hollywood studios are holding back their bigger and more commercial titles until mid-November because of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/studios-election-day-1235992812\/\">Nov. 5 election<\/a>. This applies to next weekend in particular, but it also impacted the marquee this weekend. The gap resulted in leaving room for alternative content.
