The alleged investment was reported initially by the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/11\/01\/business\/nvidia-in-talks-with-elon-musk-about-investing-in-xai-source\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New York Post<\/a><\/em>, which cited a source reportedly familiar with the matter.<\/p>\n<p>Elon Musk\u2019s artificial intelligence startup is behind Grok, a large language model (LLM) that is currently deployed on social media platform X. While Grok came to market later than competitors like OpenAI\u2019s ChatGPT, its growth and development have been very quick.<\/p>\n<p>While Nvidia reportedly declined to comment about its alleged investment in <a href=\"https:\/\/x.ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">xAI<\/a>, its CEO, Jensen Huang, has been pretty supportive of Musk\u2019s artificial intelligence startup. In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.windowscentral.com\/hardware\/laptops\/missing-this-samsung-galaxy-book4-edge-deal-would-haunt-and-horrify-you-dont-be-tricked-get-yourself-a-treat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">interview in October<\/a>, Huang noted that the xAI team set up a supercomputer cluster featuring 100,000 H200 Blackwell GPUs in just 19 days.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Nvidia in talks with Elon Musk over investing in xAI, according to NYP <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/yk46J4gM4Y\">pic.twitter.com\/yk46J4gM4Y<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Dima Zeniuk (@DimaZeniuk) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DimaZeniuk\/status\/1852824162126922185?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 2, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As per Huang, such a project would ordinarily take up to four years from its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teslarati.com\/elon-musks-xai-new-lease-memphis-report\/\">concept phase to its final output<\/a>. \u201cAs far as I know, there\u2019s only one person in the world who could do that; Elon is singular in his understanding of engineering and construction and large systems and marshaling resources; it\u2019s just unbelievable,\u201d Huang noted.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Reports about investments in xAI have been abounding. In October, a report from <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/tech\/ai\/elon-musks-xai-in-talks-to-raise-funding-valuing-it-at-40-billion-af808b9e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Wall Street Journal<\/a><\/em> claimed that Musk\u2019s artificial intelligence startup was in talks with some investors about raising several billion dollars at a valuation of about $40 billion. A report from <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theinformation.com\/articles\/musks-xai-has-discussed-raising-money-at-45-billion-valuation-from-valor-sequoia-andreessen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Information<\/a><\/em> also noted that Musk\u2019s artificial intelligence startup has discussed raising $5 billion from investors at a valuation of about $45 billion.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In its report, <em>The Information<\/em> noted that xAI\u2019s investment round would involve firms such as Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, and Vy Capital.
