An investigation that began <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/04\/18\/arts\/music\/new-york-philharmonic-investigation.html\" title=\"\">then has now<\/a> turned up additional claims of misbehavior, the Philharmonic said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The orchestra last month informed the players that they would be dismissed at the start of the next season. They will remain on paid leave until then.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-1\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cWe have done the right thing and we have followed the letter of the law,\u201d said Deborah Borda, the Philharmonic\u2019s interim leader. \u201cThe facts strongly supported our case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Ms. Borda said the inquiry had uncovered \u201cpatterns of sexual misconduct and abuse of power\u201d by the two men. She added that Mr. Wang had engaged in inappropriate relationships with students and had improperly tried to influence decisions about tenure. In total, 11 women came forward with accusations against Mr. Wang, the Philharmonic said, and three against Mr. Muckey.
