{"id":122299,"date":"2024-11-05T10:25:45","date_gmt":"2024-11-05T03:25:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=122299"},"modified":"2024-11-05T10:25:45","modified_gmt":"2024-11-05T03:25:45","slug":"hall-of-fame-announces-eight-names-on-era-committee-ballot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=122299","title":{"rendered":"Hall Of Fame Announces Eight Names On Era Committee Ballot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div itemprop=\"text\">\n<p>Dick Allen, Ken Boyer, John Donaldson, Steve Garvey, Dave Parker, Vic Harris, Tommy John and Luis Tiant were revealed today by the Hall of Fame as this year\u2019s candidates on the Era Committee ballot.\u00a0 Most commonly known as the \u201cveterans committee,\u201d a panel of 16 people (comprised of former players, executives, sportswriters, and historians) will meet during the Winter Meetings to vote on whether or not any of these eight candidates will be elected to Cooperstown.\u00a0 At least 12 of 16 votes are needed for induction, and the results of the balloting will be revealed on December 8.<\/p>\n<p>The Era Committee rotates between three pools of candidates every year \u2014 players from the \u201cContemporary Baseball\u201d era of 1980 until the present, managers\/executives\/umpires from this same 1980-present period, and all individuals from the \u201cClassic Baseball\u201d era of pre-1980.\u00a0 This year\u2019s ballot focused on the Classic Baseball era, ranging from well-known MLB stars to somewhat lesser-known names like Harris and Donaldson, who were both icons of the Negro Leagues.<\/p>\n<p>Several of the candidates have appeared on Era Committee ballots in the past, with Allen infamously falling a single vote short of induction in both 2015 and 2021.\u00a0 Harris was also a near-miss on the 2021 ballot, landing 10 of the minimum 12 votes necessary for induction to Cooperstown.<\/p>\n<p>Narrowly missing out on what is already a second-chance ballot adds to the bittersweet nature of the Era Committee.\u00a0 While the process has corrected many oversights from the writers\u2019 ballot, getting to these oversights sometimes decades after the fact means that some of the inductees aren\u2019t able to personally enjoy their day of glory in Cooperstown.\u00a0 Garvey, Parker, and John are the only members of this year\u2019s ballot who are still alive, as Tiant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlbtraderumors.com\/2024\/10\/luis-tiant-passes-away.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">passed away<\/a> less than a month ago.<\/p>\n<p>The Era Committee ballot is separate from the annual BBWAA ballot for more modern Hall of Fame candidates, and the results of the BBWAA ballot will be revealed on January 21.\u00a0 <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/s\/suzukic01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.mlbtraderumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-11-04_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ichiro Suzuki<\/a><\/strong> is a lock for induction in his first year on that ballot, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/s\/sabatc.01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.mlbtraderumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-11-04_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">C.C.
