It was the sunspot region&#8217;s strongest flare yet.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.spaceweather.com\/archive.php?view=1&amp;day=05&amp;month=11&amp;year=2024\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.spaceweather.com\/archive.php?view=1&amp;day=05&amp;month=11&amp;year=2024\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>Spaceweather.com<\/u><\/a>, the wait is on for scientists to receive data from the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/what-is-a-coronagraph.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/what-is-a-coronagraph.html\"><u>coronagraph<\/u><\/a> on the\u00a0joint NASA\/European Space Agency\u00a0\u00a0<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/18501-soho-solar-heliospheric-observatory.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/18501-soho-solar-heliospheric-observatory.html\"><u>Solar and Heliospheric Observatory<\/u><\/a>\u00a0(SOHO) spacecraft to determine if a <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/coronal-mass-ejections-cme\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/coronal-mass-ejections-cme\">coronal mass ejection<\/a> (CME) will impact Earth. X-class flares come in as the most powerful, with the class down being M-class. The number that accompanies the letter represents the strength of the individual flare, which in this case was a 2.3.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)&#8217;s Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC), the flare came in at a R3-Strong level on the Space Weather Scale.
