Police said that they have set up traps around the area and are \u201cutilizing thermal imaging cameras in an attempt to locate the animals\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">Alpha Genesis boasts on its website that the company \u201cprovides the highest quality nonhuman primate products and bio-research services world-wide\u201d. The company also claims that \u201cwe are dedicated to providing only the best and most cost-effective primate research and development support to the scientific community\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">The Yemassee police department said that \u201cmultiple officers\u201d are working Alpha Genesis personnel to catch the monkeys.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">While monkey escapes are not common to the area, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.postandcourier.com\/beaufort-county\/news\/yemassee-monkeys-escape-alpha-genesis-south-carolina\/article_5b4dcc40-9cb2-11ef-9595-57948042780d.html\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">The Post and Courier<\/a> newspaper notes that they have happened multiple times in recent history.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">A Japanese macaque decamped its home in Walterboro this May. Local animal services disclosed that the macaque had been apprehended and, two days later, said that it had been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.postandcourier.com\/beaufort-county\/walterboro-monkey-captured-dead\/article_ba55f824-1df6-11ef-896c-e79fb6d36914.html\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">found dead<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">This is also not Alpha Genesis\u2019s first rodeo with unruly animals, with 19 monkeys fleeing the facility in 2016. They were returned to Alpha Genesis after six hours.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">Other notable cases of escaped monkeys can be seen in Florida; an eccentric boat captain released two groups of monkeys in the Silver Springs area nearly 100 years ago.
