It&#8217;s a last chance at power for Democrats after <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/news\/politics\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|k|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Donald Trump<\/a> claimed the White House while Republicans <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/elections\/2024\/11\/06\/republicans-win-senate-control\/75648647007\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/elections\/2024\/11\/06\/republicans-win-senate-control\/75648647007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|k|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">gained a majority<\/a> in the Senate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">It will take 218 seats to rule the House, and although neither party has reached the threshold, the numbers appear to favor the GOP. The Associated Press count put Democrats at 199 seats while Republicans had claimed 211 by Friday morning. Baugh is a former California Assembly member and served as chair of the Orange County Republican Party for a decade.\u00a0Min worked for U.S. Sen. Republican Rep. Don Bacon is seeking reelection in the district dubbed the \u201cblue dot.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The nickname came after voters there went for Biden by more than 6 percentage points in 2020.
