Details of the project have been kept under wraps but sources tell the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/tom-holland-to-star-in-christopher-nolan-next-film-1236040294\/\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">Hollywood Reporter<\/a> that it will not be set in the present day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-106f06m\">Nolan\u2019s follow-up to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/2023\/jul\/22\/oppenheimer-review-christopher-nolan-volatile-biopic-is-a-towering-achievement-cillian-murphy\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">Oppenheimer<\/a> has been dated for 17 July 2026 with an Imax release. The movie is expected to start shooting in 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-106f06m\">It will mark an on-screen reunion for off-screen partners Zendaya and Holland. The pair are also expected to return to their roles in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/2024\/mar\/29\/where-can-marvel-take-tom-holland-fourth-spider-man-film\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">fourth Spider-Man movie<\/a>, which is currently dated for a week after Nolan\u2019s film.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-106f06m\">\u201cAll I can say is that I\u2019m incredibly excited,\u201d Holland <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2024\/film\/news\/tom-holland-christopher-nolan-movie-offer-phone-call-1236188733\/\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">said<\/a> about being part of Nolan\u2019s next project. \u201cAnd obviously honored, but that\u2019s all I can say because, to be honest, that\u2019s all I know.\u201d He said receiving the phone call was \u201creminiscent of getting the call about Spider-Man 10 years ago\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-106f06m\">Hathaway has previously worked with Nolan in both Interstellar and The Dark Knight Rises. \u201cA lot of people wouldn\u2019t give me roles because they were so concerned about how toxic my identity had become online,\u201d Hathaway said in a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/hollywood\/anne-hathaway-cover-story\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">Vanity Fair<\/a> interview. \u201cI had an angel in Christopher Nolan, who did not care about that and gave me one of the most beautiful roles I\u2019ve had in one of the best films [Interstellar] that I\u2019ve been a part of.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-106f06m\">Hathaway was recently seen in romantic comedy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/2024\/may\/01\/the-idea-of-you-review-anne-hathaway\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">The Idea of You<\/a> and period thriller <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/2024\/mar\/27\/mothers-instinct-review-anne-hathaway-and-jessica-chastain-in-60s-set-operatic-melodrama\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">Mothers\u2019 Instinct<\/a>. She will next appear alongside Michaela Coel in pop-star drama <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/tv-and-radio\/article\/2024\/aug\/19\/michaela-coel-first-day-on-earth-new-show\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">Mother Mary<\/a> and next summer\u2019s sci-fi thriller Flowervale Street with Ewan McGregor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-106f06m\">Zendaya was recently seen in Luca Guadagnino\u2019s hit tennis drama <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/2024\/apr\/28\/challengers-review-luca-guadagnino-zendaya-mike-faist-josh-o-connor\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">Challengers<\/a> and fantasy sequel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/2024\/feb\/21\/dune-part-two-review-denis-villeneuve\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">Dune: Part Two<\/a>. She is currently filming The Drama with Robert Pattinson for Dream Scenario director Kristoffer Borgli.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-106f06m\">Nolan is coming off the commercial and critical hit Oppenheimer, the historical biopic that became a blockbuster in summer 2023 making $976m worldwide and later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/2024\/mar\/11\/christopher-nolan-best-director-oppenheimer\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">winning<\/a> the Oscar for best picture.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-106f06m\">When asked about replicating such success for his next project, Nolan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BZeU2zJyC0M\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">said<\/a>: \u201cI think you can\u2019t worry too much about the relationship of one film to the next. I get bored very quickly, I like to keep working.
