While it wasn\u2019t certainly a must-win, it was something close to a can\u2019t-lose game.<\/p>\n<p id=\"A8eQbw\">After a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.silverscreenandroll.com\/2024\/11\/7\/24290223\/lakers-dangelo-russell-performance-bench-grizzlies\">vibes-crushing road trip<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.silverscreenandroll.com\/2024\/11\/8\/24291892\/lakers-dangelo-russell-starting-lineup-cam-reddish-jj-redick-sixers\">benching of D\u2019Angelo Russell<\/a> heading into the game, things could have really gone south with a loss.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ejnPSt\">Instead, the Lakers came out with a very serious approach from the start, put the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.libertyballers.com\">Sixers<\/a> down big early and, after a bit of a comeback from Philly in the second quarter, ended all doubt in the third period.<\/p>\n<p id=\"g8ZsDA\">Now, if the Lakers could just play a depleted team at home in every game.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ytrLeK\">Alas, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.silverscreenandroll.com\/2024\/11\/8\/24291907\/lakers-vs-sixers-final-score-recap-stats-box-score-lebron-james-austin-reaves-dangelo-russell\">let\u2019s dive into the win<\/a>. As always, grades are based on expectations for each player. A \u201cB\u201d grade represents the average performance for that player.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"nSrXoC\"><strong>Anthony Davis<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p id=\"piIaan\"><em>36 minutes, 31 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 blocks, 11-20 FG, 2-3 3PT, 7-8 FT, +20<\/em><\/p>\n<p id=\"Gf5T31\">The ADMVP candidacy is real and it\u2019s time to shift it up a gear. Yes, this specific game came against an undersized Sixers team, but it was an important game for the Lakers for the reasons stated above.<\/p>\n<p id=\"8gR8eX\">This is clearly AD\u2019s team now. And boy is he putting his stamp on this season already.<\/p>\n<p id=\"Y4Cph8\"><em><strong>Grade: A<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"RodIH8\"><strong>Rui Hachimura<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p id=\"bXR99j\"><em>33 minutes, 9 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 3-8 FG, 3-6 3PT, -4<\/em><\/p>\n<p id=\"BjvAIJ\">It wasn\u2019t a great night from Rui, but that he knocked down a trio of 3-pointers was nice. I\u2019m going to grade him on an even greater curve because I can\u2019t imagine he\u2019s back to full health.<\/p>\n<p id=\"RMUpXp\">He battled underneath, even if he was woefully undersized against Andre Drummond. But the willingness to get in the paint and battle under the rim is encouraging.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ml90eA\"><em><strong>Grade: B-<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"si04yv\"><strong>LeBron James<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p id=\"wI9HZA\"><em>34 minutes, 21 points, 12 rebounds, 13 assists, 3 blocks, 9-14 FG, 2-4 3PT, 1-1 FT, +12<\/em><\/p>\n<p id=\"DRw1DI\">It was a pretty slow first half for LeBron, but he turned it up in the second half and completely controlled the game. It was one of those \u201cho-hum\u201d LeBron games where he casually has a 20-point triple-double.<\/p>\n<p id=\"0Y8FcL\">I thought it was a nice game from him defensively, too, both on the boards and rejecting a couple of shots.<\/p>\n<p id=\"boTQjj\"><em><strong>Grade: A-<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"LGHneI\"><strong>Cam Reddish<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p id=\"cEKuHZ\"><em>28 minutes, 3 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, 1-1 FG, 1-1 3PT, -6<\/em><\/p>\n<p id=\"2lZGbZ\">All things considered, this is a very Cam Reddish game. He was good defensively, knocked down a 3-pointer and the Lakers were worse with him on the floor.<\/p>\n<p id=\"G4WZLP\">In fairness to that last point, I think there are other things he does well outside of his defense. For example, he\u2019s better than most of the other Lakers guards at rebounding.<\/p>\n<p id=\"XoL8JM\">Cam is a useful player if he stays healthy and hits 3-pointers. He has done neither of those things consistently in his career.<\/p>\n<p id=\"FsEg4E\">This feels like a placeholder spot in the starting lineup for Jarred Vanderbilt. Or D\u2019Angelo Russell, if he starts making shots again.<\/p>\n<p id=\"gzzSI8\"><em><strong>Grade: B<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"TmvW9z\"><strong>Austin Reaves<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p id=\"JgEAAi\"><em>30 minutes, 20 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 block, 7-13 FG, 6-10 3PT, +14<\/em><\/p>\n<p id=\"Vyetye\">It was really nice to see Reaves, who entered the game shooting 6-29 from range in his last four games, to find his form from range again. The challenge for him, now, should be consistency. Fewer alternating good and bad stretches and, instead, just some regular good 3-point shooting.<\/p>\n<p id=\"aaxVKg\"><em><strong>Grade: A<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"vJ48jo\"><strong>Jaxson Hayes<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p id=\"noO5UX\"><em>16 minutes, 8 points, 2 rebounds, 4 blocks, 3-4 FG, 2-2 FT, +0<\/em><\/p>\n<p id=\"ygNCty\">Only Hayes could somehow manage more blocks than rebounds as a center. But I won\u2019t disparage him too much as I\u2019ll happily take a four-block performance from him whenever I can get it.<\/p>\n<p id=\"BGeLTA\">The two-big lineups for the Lakers also had a good amount of success today.<\/p>\n<p id=\"H6Bki4\"><em><strong>Grade: B<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"6SpbW7\"><strong>D\u2019Angelo Russell<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p id=\"C5D5dj\"><em>25 minutes, 18 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 7-12 FG, 2-4 3PT, 2-3 FT, +13<\/em><\/p>\n<p id=\"TXpWfo\">A great response to being benched is putting together likely your best game of the season. It wasn\u2019t even a night that he caught fire from range, either. It was his attacking the rim that was the most pleasant surprise.<\/p>\n<p id=\"4Pr1cs\">Is that sustainable? Probably not. Most of his finishes on Friday were unorthodox, to say the least.<\/p>\n<p id=\"Y7kAls\"><em><strong>Grade: A<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"XCgBZm\"><strong>Gabe Vincent<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p id=\"En2rCb\"><em>16 minutes, 2 points, 1-2 FG, 0-1 3PT, +4<\/em><\/p>\n<p id=\"RAbcuu\">What\u2019s left to say about Vincent at this point? If his role isn\u2019t changing, and it doesn\u2019t look like it is, then he\u2019s not going to be more productive.<\/p>\n<p id=\"0rveOR\">I understand the idea of splitting up D\u2019Lo and Reaves and inserting a more defensive guard. I actually think you could have made an argument to start Vincent and use him on the ball more, as our own Darius Soriano argued.<\/p>\n<p id=\"O7fbGX\">But if this is all you\u2019re getting from Vincent, then JJ Redick should probably just play Max Christie, who has more potential.<\/p>\n<p id=\"V8lUZi\"><em><strong>Grade: D<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<aside id=\"bsMn8I\">\n<\/aside>\n<h2 id=\"iGi8ci\"><strong>Dalton Knecht<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p id=\"CRs2Tv\"><em>16 minutes, 2 points, 4 rebounds, 1-8 FG, 0-5 3PT, +17<\/em><\/p>\n<p id=\"yptMZ3\">Maybe it\u2019s me giving him a lot of benefit of the doubt, but I actually wasn\u2019t all that discouraged by Knecht on Friday. He was doing a lot of things right offensively except the making the shots part. And if there\u2019s an aspect of his game that I\u2019m not worried about in Knecht\u2019s game, it\u2019s his shot-making.<\/p>\n<p id=\"mMGdtb\"><em><strong>Grade: C+<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"iP7c3I\"><strong>JJ Redick<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p id=\"829Nc5\">Benching D\u2019Angelo Russell was a gutsy call but one that had short-term gains. Is it sustainable long-term?
