While his mom and dad knew something was wrong, doctors said Elijah was fine \u2014 then he was diagnosed with a brain tumor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe biggest lesson learned for us parents is, react,\u201d his dad, Richard Portillo, told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox5vegas.com\/2024\/10\/30\/father-11-year-old-sons-simple-headache-turned-life-threatening\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Fox 5 Vegas;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">Fox 5 Vegas<\/a>. \u201cA lot of people say, they\u2018re trying to get out of school or whatnot. This was not the case.
