Allen could be sentenced to up to 130 years in prison if convicted of all the charges, the Associated Press <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/delphi-indiana-teens-killed-richard-allen-5b7008f8c1ced3e06f6913907ff3cf96\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3a9s49z00153b6mvkhayj6f@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The 12-person jury, which began deliberations Thursday, deliberated for more than five hours Saturday at the Carroll County Courthouse before departing for the day, WTHR <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wthr.com\/article\/news\/crime\/delphi-girls-murdered\/closing-arguments-jury-deliberates-day-20-delphi-murders-trial-suspect-richard-allen-libby-german-abby-williams\/531-8ae7d851-0420-4ca3-a24d-f912a1cfe5b9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>. Jurors will deliberate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday until they reach a verdict, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wthr.com\/article\/news\/crime\/delphi-girls-murdered\/closing-arguments-jury-deliberates-day-18-delphi-murders-trial-suspect-richard-allen-libby-german-abby-williams\/531-3a06e7f9-0c91-4124-b569-897742869704\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WTHR<\/a>. Last month, 16 Allen County residents were selected to serve on the jury, including four people serving as alternates, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wthr.com\/article\/news\/crime\/delphi-girls-murdered\/delphi-murders-trial-day-15-richard-allen-prosecution-state-defense-case-libby-german-abby-williams-carroll-county-indiana\/531-555f3bd3-721d-41a0-8543-7f66405f8c55\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WTHR<\/a> said.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3a9s49z00163b6mj2xbqy4j@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Allen County Superior Court Judge Frances Gull gave the jurors their final instructions Thursday morning and urged them to \u201cconsider the facts\u201d before Carroll County Prosecutor Nick McLeland delivered closing arguments, walking the jury through the evidence and testimony presented during the trial, WTHR reported.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3a9s49z00173b6mt9a3abqo@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cI believe the evidence is firmly convincing that Richard Allen is Bridge Guy and he killed Abby and Libby,\u201d McLeland told the jury.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3a9s49z00183b6mk2src5z3@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            McLeland showed jurors graphic photos of the girls\u2019 bodies, a video of the suspect taken from Libby\u2019s smartphone that he said captured the final moments of the girls\u2019 lives, and a recording of Allen purportedly confessing to his wife during a phone call.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3a9s49z00193b6m92xv7n1g@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cI did it,\u201d Allen could be heard telling his wife. \u201cI killed Abby and Libby.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3a9s49z001a3b6mm21gxd7k@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Defense attorney Brad Rozzi in closing arguments said a broken timeline, false confessions and a lack of DNA or weapons evidence should lead to acquittal.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3a9s49z001b3b6m6tyh23ml@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cThe defense trusts what you\u2019ve heard over the past several weeks is more important than what you\u2019re hearing today,\u201d Rozzi told the jury Thursday.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3a9s49z001c3b6m2bj7k76d@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The defense further argued no physical evidence ties Allen to the killings and said confessions he made in the past were Delphi murder case goes back to February 13, 2017, when \u201cAbby\u201d and \u201cLibby\u201d went for a hike on the Monon High Bridge in Delphi. The two girls were reported missing after they failed to meet Libby\u2019s father that afternoon. The next day, their bodies were found, both dead from cuts to the throat, partially covered by sticks.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3a9s49z001e3b6m9f7oxot6@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The case attracted public attention in part because of a photo and audio recording of a suspect taken from Libby\u2019s smartphone. The image shows a man walking on the bridge with his hands in his pockets, and the audio includes a man\u2019s muffled voice saying, \u201cGuys, down the hill.\u201d Although police circulated the photo and audio just days after the killings and identified the \u201cBridge Guy\u201d as their prime suspect, the case ran cold for more than five years until Allen was arrested in 2022.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3a9s49z001f3b6miskgwl5y@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Allen had seemingly evaded police notice, staying in the small town of Delphi and working at a local CVS pharmacy, until <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/10\/28\/us\/delphi-murders-richard-allen-case\/index.html\">a clerk digitizing tips<\/a> related to the investigation in September 2022 noticed he had placed himself at the scene of the crime. Just days after the bodies were discovered, Allen told police he had been on that trail during the timeframe the girls were thought to have been killed.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3a9s49z001g3b6m7ic2dvm9@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Carroll County Sheriff Tony Liggett said despite the tip, Allen \u201cgot lost in the cracks,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wlfi.com\/news\/day-6-of-the-delphi-murder-trial-a-tip-that-put-richard-allen-at-the\/article_5158a196-9240-11ef-a05e-17850ad123ee.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to CNN affiliate WLFI.<\/a> Around a month after the tip was rediscovered, Allen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/11\/29\/us\/delphi-teen-girls-killing-probable-cause-affidavit\/index.html\">was arrested<\/a> after police matched an unspent cartridge found between the girls\u2019 bodies to a pistol recovered from his home during a police search.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3a9s49z001h3b6mqwkzi1hx@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            After Allen was arrested on October 26, 2022, he was charged with two counts of murder while committing or attempting to commit a kidnapping five days later. Prosecutors later amended the charges to include two additional counts of murder.\n    <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"subheader inline-placeholder\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/subheader\/instances\/cm3a9s4ol001v3b6mzyxdezdq@published\" data-component-name=\"subheader\" id=\"allens-mental-state-and-confessions-were-highlighted\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n        Allen\u2019s mental state and confessions were highlighted<br \/>\n<\/h2>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3a9s49z001i3b6myyglxncv@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Over the course of the trial, which began October 18, the prosecution highlighted Allen\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/11\/04\/us\/delphi-murders-trial-richard-allen\/index.html\">dozens of confessions<\/a> while incarcerated: He confessed to the crime more than 60 times, prosecutors say, including to his wife, his mother, the psychologist who treated him, the warden and other prison employees and inmates. They played audio recordings of some of the confessions for the jury.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3a9s49z001j3b6m4a6qjzn4@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Monica Wala, the former lead psychologist at Westville Correctional Facility where Allen was housed, testified he initially told her he was innocent, but began confessing to the crimes in April 2023, around the time he was placed back on suicide watch.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3a9s49z001k3b6mydfodmxu@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Wala testified that Allen had told her, \u201cI killed Abby and Libby. I\u2019m sorry,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wthr.com\/article\/news\/crime\/delphi-girls-murdered\/delphi-murders-trial-day-11-richard-allen-prosecution-state-defense-case-libby-german-abby-williams-carroll-county-indiana\/531-3ddb5b9c-7682-45d8-a2cc-9b03086895a9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to CNN affiliate WTHR<\/a>. He said he originally planned to sexually assault the victims but ran away when he saw a van nearby, and that he had cut the girls\u2019 throats and covered their bodies with sticks, she testified.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3a9s49z001l3b6mz36v8zic@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The defense has sought to paint a portrait of Allen as a mentally ill man whose fragile mental state was exacerbated by months spent in solitary confinement \u2013 including during the time period when he confessed to the crimes. He was twice put on suicide watch while in prison, exhibited bizarre behavior such as eating his own feces and banging his head, and was at one time diagnosed with \u201ca brief psychotic disorder,\u201d according to testimony from Wala.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3a9s49z001m3b6m3g5yclrv@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Testifying for the defense, Deanna Dwenger, a clinical psychologist who worked for the Indiana Department of Corrections Behavioral Health, testified Allen was diagnosed with a serious mental illness in April 2023 and that a team of mental health professionals concluded he had a \u201cgrave disability,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wrtv.com\/news\/delphi\/delphi-murders-trial-day-13-defense-attorneys-call-law-enforcement-and-medical-professionals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to CNN affiliate WRTV.<\/a>\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3a9s49z001n3b6my0gk4zuo@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The defense originally hoped to introduce an \u201cOdinism\u201d defense: a theory that followers of Odinism, a Norse pagan religion recently adopted by White supremacists, committed the killings. The defense cast doubt on the bullet evidence, questioning why more images were not taken of the cartridge and suggesting the bullet could have come from a law enforcement officer\u2019s weapon, according to WRTV.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3a9s49z001q3b6mjm4jm4ra@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The prosecution has also tried to match Allen with the video and audio recording of the \u201cBridge Guy\u201d captured on Libby\u2019s cellphone. Indiana State Police Master Trooper Brian Harshman, who said he listened to more than 700 of Allen\u2019s prison phone calls, testified for the prosecution that in his opinion, \u201cthe voice of the \u2018Bridge Guy\u2019 is the voice of Richard Allen,\u2019\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wrtv.com\/news\/delphi\/delphi-murders-trial-day-12-jury-hears-jail-phone-calls-from-richard-allen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to WRTV.<\/a>\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3a9s49z001r3b6mydh48jl5@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cRichard Allen is Bridge Guy,\u201d McLeland told jurors. \u201cHe kidnapped them and later murdered them.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm3a9s49z001s3b6mqt2cm9i9@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            In response, Rozzi said that Allen wasn\u2019t clearly identified by witnesses as the man on the hiking trail or the bridge when the teenagers went missing.
