The closer was a pretty great Elon Musk impression from the maestro himself Dana Carvey, jettisoning the near-perfect Joe Biden he\u2019s been rolling out this season so far.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tKicking the regular cable news mock show skit to the curb, the show somberly started with cast regulars Bowen Yang, Ego Nwodim, Kenan Thompson and Heidi Gardner recounting the election results.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cOn Tuesday, Americans went to the polls and elected Donald Trump to the next President of the United States,\u201d began Yang. \u201cTo many people, including many people watching this show right now, the results were shocking and even horrifying,\u201d added a completely straight-faced Nwodin, maybe anticipating Trump would post some sort of response on social media before he got the joke.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cDonald Trump, who tried to forcibly overturn the results of the last election, was returned to office by an overwhelming majority,\u201d said an equally nonplussed Gardner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the same Donald Trump who openly called for vengeance against his political enemies,\u201d stated Thompson. Then it was Yang again: \u201cNow, next to the Supreme Court, there are no guardrails.\u201d To Nwodim: \u201cNothing to protect the people who are brave enough to speak out against him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is why we at <em>SNL<\/em> would like to say to Donald Trump \u2014 we have been with you all along,\u201d piped up Thompson, as the audience uttered its first laughter of the opener. \u201cWe have never wavered in our support of you, even when others doubted you,\u201d added a smiling Yang.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe quartet were joined in quick succession by Andrew Dismukes, <em>Weekend Update <\/em>co-host Colin Jost (who went full January 6 at one point), Sarah Sherman and the thrown-under-the-bus trio of newbies. All that was missing was a bow in the direction of Jeff Bezos, if you know what I mean?<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe hard humor-challenged reality of Trump\u2019s win in the electoral college and, for the first time, in the popular vote had a stronger punch Saturday with the ex<em>-Celebrity Apprentice<\/em> host sweeping all the swing states with wins in Nevada and Arizona.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tTonight\u2019s post-election hangover show sees <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/bill-burr\/\" id=\"auto-tag_bill-burr\" data-tag=\"bill-burr\">Bill Burr<\/a> back as host for the second time and multi-instrumentalist MK.gee making his debut as musical guest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tNext week will be one of those rare-ish double dips for<em> SNL<\/em> with\u201c Brat\u201d singer  Charli XCX as both host and musical guest for the seventh show of the late nighter\u2019s 50<sup>th<\/sup> season.
