Bob Casey for his service to Pennsylvania and urging him to concede.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI also recognize <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">what it\u2019s like to lose a close election,\u201d McCormick said Friday, pointing to Pennsylvania\u2019s 2022 GOP U.S. Senate primary, where he lost to Mehmet Oz by less than 1,000 votes. \u201cWe knew on election night we had won, because the math was clear and there\u2019s no way for Senator Casey to win, and the AP certainly recognized that yesterday by calling the race.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But on Saturday morning, as ballots continued to be counted that could determine whether he would be Pennsylvania\u2019s next U.S. Senator, McCormick flew to Bridgeport, Connecticut.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Casey hammered McCormick for his Connecticut connection throughout the campaign, repeatedly pointing to an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/pennsylvania-mccormick-residency-mansion-connecticut-oz-e84500b848f0be7efb9f9b3c495dd066\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">August 2023 AP article<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which maintained that the former hedge fund CEO continued to live in Connecticut even as he sought to represent the people of Pennsylvania.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flightradar24.com\/data\/aircraft\/n721af\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Flight records<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> show a private plane previously connected to McCormick left Pittsburgh the morning of Nov. 9 bound for Bridgeport. As <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/news\/2023\/09\/david-mccormick-says-he-lives-in-pennsylvania-flight-records-appear-to-tell-a-different-story\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vanity Fair reported<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> last year, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) records show McCormick is part owner of four Platius PC-12 planes as part of PlaneSense\u2019s PC-12 fractional ownership program. PlaneSense provides people who purchase one of its planes access to a fleet of private planes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/politics\/election\/dave-mccormick-pa-senate-resident-20240306.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Philadelphia Inquirer reported in March<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that after launching a statewide bus tour of Pennsylvania, where he said he would \u201clive on the bus\u201d McCormick flew back to Connecticut that same day. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/republican-dave-mccormick-launches-bid-vulnerable-senate-seat-battleground-state\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">McCormick has said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that the reason he travels to Connecticut is because his youngest daughter from a previous marriage lives there, and he visits frequently.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Elizabeth Gregory, communications director for the McCormick campaign <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/eliz_gregory\/status\/1855658253348171998?s=46&amp;t=Ji8VqnT82Y0PJUwLcr4PZA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said in a social media post Sunday<\/a> that McCormick \u201cwent to his daughter\u2019s soccer game \u2014 the first he was able to make it to this season. Like her dad, she won!\u00a0 Dave was back in PA that night. Please stop with this unseemly desperation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Associated Press, which calculates election outcomes based on a number of factors, including votes remaining, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/penncapital-star.com\/election-2024\/pennsylvania-senate-casey-mccormick-ap-call-concede\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">called the race for McCormick on Thursday.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> But the Pennsylvania Secretary of State noted not long afterward that there were \u201cat least 100,000 ballots remaining to be adjudicated, including provisional, military, overseas, and Election Day votes.\u201d And Casey has not conceded.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI have dedicated my life to making sure Pennsylvanians\u2019 voices are heard, whether on the floor of the Senate or in a free and fair election,\u201d Casey said in a statement Thursday evening. \u201cIt has been made clear there are more than 100,000 votes still to be counted. Pennsylvania is where our democratic process was born. We must allow that process to play out and ensure that every vote that is eligible to be counted will be counted. That is what Pennsylvania deserves.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PBS NewsHour correspondent <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/LisaDNews\/status\/1855010313495564397\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lisa Desjardins reported Friday<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that the AP told her it had \u201cestimated 109,000 ballots were still outstanding. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Up from 91,000 the day before. That is \u2013 they stress and I stress \u2013 an estimate.\u00a0 And they adjust it as they get more information.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/projects\/election-results-2024\/pennsylvania\/?r=40100\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">In a post<\/a> from its \u201cdecision team\u201d on Friday, the AP said \u201cMcCormick\u2019s lead grew on Friday as more Election Day votes were added to the count in Republican-leaning Cambria County and some smaller counties completed the process of assessing and adding provisional ballots to the count. That lead may shrink over the coming days, however, as provisional ballots from more Democratic-leaning areas are reviewed by election officials.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other news outlets, including <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/decisiondeskhq.com\/results\/2024\/General\/Pennsylvania\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DecisionDesk HQ<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and NBC News, have not yet called the race as of Sunday morning.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And, when the tally is calculated, if the margin of votes is 0.5% or lower, it would trigger a recount under Pennsylvania law.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>McCormick was <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/marcorubio\/status\/1855662057250558183\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">apparently not invited<\/a> to participate in U.S. Senate orientation since the race remains close. A spokesperson for U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), the Senate Majority Leader told States Newsroom on Sunday, \u201cWith over 100,000 ballots left to be counted in Pennsylvania, the race has not been decided. As is custom, we will invite the winner once the votes are counted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Friday in Philadelphia, the same day McCormick held his victory rally in Pittsburgh, a Common Pleas Court judge rejected McCormick\u2019s request to increase the number of GOP observers in the counting of provisional ballots. McCormick withdrew a second lawsuit seeking a \u201cglobal challenge\u201d to provisional ballots.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEach day, counties across the Commonwealth are confirming there are more ballots that need to be counted,\u201d Casey campaign spokesperson Maddy McDaniel said in a statement. \u201cWe know there are more than 100,000 ballots left to be counted including tens of thousands of provisional ballots in counties favorable to Senator Casey, and the McCormick campaign has acknowledged these provisional ballots could impact the outcome of the election while pursuing unsuccessful lawsuits to get them thrown out.
