In a GQ cover story, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/dwayne-johnson\/\" id=\"auto-tag_dwayne-johnson_1\" data-tag=\"dwayne-johnson\">Dwayne Johnson<\/a> addresses claims made in a report from The Wrap that he was often late to set during filming of the new holiday movie <em><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/red-one\/\" id=\"auto-tag_red-one_1\" data-tag=\"red-one\">Red One<\/a><\/em> and that he sometimes used water bottles as, well, makeshift urinals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cYeah,\u201d Johnson told GQ about peeing in water bottles to save time. \u201cThat happens\u2026I\u2019ve said a thousand times: \u2018Hey, I\u2019m here. Come and ask me. And I\u2019ll tell you the truth.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tOn a more serious note, The Wrap report suggested that Johnson\u2019s frequent tardiness to set \u2013 sometimes as much as eight hours \u2013 had driven the <em>Red One <\/em>budget up by a big $250 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cYeah, that happens too,\u201d Johnson says. \u201cBut not that amount, by the way. That was a bananas amount. That\u2019s crazy. Ridiculous.\u201d Johnson called the controversy \u201cbullshit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIn the GQ piece,<em> Red One<\/em> director Jake Kasdan defends Johnson. \u201c[Dwayne] never missed a day of work ever,\u201d Kasdan says. \u201cHe has a lot going on. He can be late sometimes, but such is Hollywood \u2014 that\u2019s the case with everybody. Honestly, I\u2019ve made three big movies with him. I\u2019ve never seen him be anything but great to every single person on the set.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tCo-star Chris Evans also comes to Johnson\u2019s defense. \u201cIn terms of the guy that I saw, compared to some of the things I\u2019ve seen on other movies with other actors who are not only not conscious of other people\u2019s time and efforts, but they\u2019re unpredictable? I found Dwayne to be \u2014 we all know exactly what he\u2019s going to do when he\u2019s going to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tJohnson, Evans says, typically works out in the mornings before arriving on set. \u201cBut this is something that the producers, the director, and it\u2019s all his team, so they all know this. So it\u2019s all basic. It\u2019s not like he\u2019s late unexpectedly, and I wouldn\u2019t even call it late. He comes in slightly later on certain mornings, but it\u2019s part of the plan. It\u2019s worked into the schedules and everyone knows it, so he shows up when he\u2019s scheduled to show up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tEvans also shares a story suggesting a more considerate side of Johnson. As is the case on some movie sets, <em>Red One<\/em> had a cast and crew raffle called Five-Dollar Fridays with everyone pitching in \u2013 but actors generally not in the running to collect. \u201cThe pot was up to four or five grand or something,\u201d Evans recalled, \u201cand before they pulled the name out, Dwayne said, \u2018What\u2019s the pot at right now?\u2019 And someone said, \u2018I don\u2019t know, four grand.\u2019 And he said, \u2018Let\u2019s call it 20.\u2019\u201d Then, says Evans, Johnson said, \u201cYou know what? Should we do it again? How about 30 this time?\u2019 Everyone goes nuts. And then he says, \u2018You know what? How about one more?\u2019 And it was 50.
