They highlighted a recent rescue operation where a vehicle plunged 100 feet down an embankment after the driver ignored the barriers.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">&#8220;We want to remind Haywood County <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travelers<\/a> that the large orange and white \u2018road closed\u2019 signage and concrete barriers are there for a reason, and one of those reasons isn\u2019t to drive around them,&#8221; firefighters said.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-news\/hurricane-helene-impact-plastics-erwin-tennessee-flood\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>BODY OF FINAL MISSING IMPACT PLASTICS EMPLOYEE FOUND MORE THAN A MONTH AFTER HELENE<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Local and state emergency services responded to the scene, and firefighters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/safety\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">safely<\/a> performed a complex rope rescue to extract the lone driver found injured, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-news\/helene-death-toll-surpasses-100-north-carolina\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">North Carolina suffered a significant loss of life due to Helene<\/a>, with the state&#8217;s Department of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/health\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Health<\/a> and Human Services reporting 102 fatalities.
