{"id":124895,"date":"2024-11-12T07:50:54","date_gmt":"2024-11-12T00:50:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=124895"},"modified":"2024-11-12T07:50:54","modified_gmt":"2024-11-12T00:50:54","slug":"wisconsin-officials-believe-kayaker-missing-since-summer-faked-his-death-and-is-in-europe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=124895","title":{"rendered":"Wisconsin officials believe kayaker missing since summer faked his death and is in Europe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"\">Officials in Wisconsin believe that a man who disappeared after kayaking at a lake this summer is alive and well, possibly faking his death and traveling to Europe \u2014 after taking out a life insurance policy and communicating with a woman from Uzbekistan.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Ryan Borgwardt \u2014 a married father of two \u2014 went missing on Aug. 12 and his last known location was Green Lake, Green Lake County Sheriff Mark Podoll said during a news briefing Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Deputies found a capsized kayak in the lake and Borgwardt&#8217;s vehicle and trailer parked in Dodge Memorial County Park, Podoll said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A fishing rod identified by Borgwardt&#8217;s wife as belonging to him and a tackle box containing his wallet, license and keys were also found, according to Podoll. Search and recovery volunteer organization Bruce&#8217;s Legacy helped look for Borgwardt&#8217;s body in the lake, but it was never found.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">On Aug. 24, three cadaver dogs and a dive team were brought in to assist with the search. Chief Deputy Matthew L. Vande Kolk said by email that detectives discovered the records check on Oct. 7. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The Canadian name inquiry allowed Wisconsin investigators to learn that Borgwardt had gotten a new passport. \u201cWe learned that he reported his original passport lost or stolen, and obtained a new passport,\u201d the chief deputy said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Borgwardt&#8217;s former passport was &#8220;easily located&#8221; through his wife, he said. &#8220;We expect that he traveled on the &#8216;new&#8217; passport,&#8221; Vande Kolk said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Meanwhile, the discovery that his passport was run by Canadian authorities prompted investigators to conduct a digital forensic analysis of Borgwardt\u2019s laptop.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">&#8220;Searching that &#8230; we have found that he was in some place in Europe,&#8221; Podoll said, adding that Borgwardt allegedly replaced the laptop&#8217;s hard drive and cleared his browser the day he disappeared. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Borgwardt also allegedly took photos of his passport, moved funds to a foreign bank, changed his email and was communicating with a woman from Uzbekistan, Podoll said. In January, he took out a $375,000 life insurance policy. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">&#8220;Due to these discoveries of the new evidence, we were sure that Ryan was not in our lake,&#8221; Podoll said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Podoll said the investigation into Borgwardt&#8217;s disappearance still has a lot of missing pieces, including a motive, and where he is right now. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">&#8220;Our goals is to identify any crimes that have been committed by any individuals who assisted with this crime,&#8221; Podoll said, adding that the sheriff&#8217;s office will pursue compensation for search efforts funded by taxpayers. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Podoll said it is too early to identify what charges Borgwardt may be faced with.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security are assisting in the ongoing investigation. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Podoll is asking anyone with information about Borgwardt to call the sheriff\u2019s office.
