The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 70 points, or 0.2%, as of 9:35 a.m. Eastern time, and the Nasdaq composite was virtually unchanged. <\/p>\n<p>Stocks have been broadly rising on expectations that Trump\u2019s preference for <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/donald-trump-wins-second-term-policies-de3dcf0f173b42602b258042fd7aaafb\">lower tax rates and other policies<\/a><\/span> will mean faster economic growth, as well as bigger U.S. government debt and <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-inflation-tariffs-taxes-immigration-federal-reserve-a18de763fcc01557258c7f33cab375ed\">higher inflation<\/a><\/span>. Some areas of the market have launched on particularly high-grade fuel, such as smaller U.S. stocks. <\/p>\n<p>They gave back some of their big gains on Tuesday, and the Russell 2000 index of smaller companies slipped 0.4%. Even <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/tesla-stock-trump-election-b54454aaabd4cbe1e1e1c9754649b869\">Tesla<\/a><\/span>, which is run by Trump\u2019s ally Elon Musk, sank. It fell 2.4% and is on track for its first loss since before Election Day last week. <\/p>\n<p>The stock that\u2019s become most entwined with Trump\u2019s popularity, <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-media-stock-musk-x-social-5328feb1a782cc65bd05b7e30756b8db\">Trump Media &amp; Technology Group<\/a><\/span>, fell 6.6%. <\/p>\n<p>Helping to offset such losses was Live Nation Entertainment, which joined the lengthening list of U.S. companies delivering stronger profit for the summer than analysts expected. The company behind Ticketmaster said concert fans around the world are spending more to hear artists, and it said trends are already encouraging for 2025 stadium tours for Coldplay and others. Its stock rose 4.7%. <\/p>\n<p>Tyson Foods rose 8.1% after likewise topping analysts\u2019 forecasts for profit. The producer of beef, chicken and pork also raised its dividend for investors.<\/p>\n<p>Home Depot rose a more modest 0.3% after <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/home-depot-hurricane-atlanta-consumer-housing-1fc6196ff0ac81b85ef20cfba74ad051\">beating analysts\u2019 profit expectations<\/a><\/span>, as it continues to contend with a pullback in spending by customers. <\/p>\n<p>In the <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/bitcoin-price-record-trump-election-rally-crypto-9a22f5b5ce24824d7df5a3ab4a58e8a0\">crypto market<\/a><\/span>, bitcoin soared to another record before pulling back. <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/donald-trump-bitcoin-cryptocurrency-stockpile-6f1314f5e99bbf47cc3ee6fc6178588d\">Trump has embraced cryptocurrencies <\/a><\/span> generally and pledged to make his country the crypto capital of the world. Bitcoin got as high as $89,995, according to CoinDesk, before dropping back toward $85,000. It started the year below $43,000.<\/p>\n<p>In the bond market, Treasury yields rallied as trading of U.S. government bonds resumed following Monday\u2019s Veterans Day holiday. <\/p>\n<p>The yield on the 10-year Treasury climbed to 4.38% from 4.31% late Friday. <\/p>\n<p>Treasury yields climbed in large part because the U.S. economy has remained much more resilient than feared. The hope is that <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/jobs-hiring-election-economy-inflation-unemployment-presidential-dcf54cd3b40f01ca78bccf86cd8e13d5\">it can continue to stay solid<\/a><\/span> as the Federal Reserve continues to cut interest rates in order to keep the job market humming, now that it\u2019s helped get <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/inflation-prices-election-federal-reserve-rates-economy-e4ff4b6745ea1c8badd6a0502f372f25\">inflation nearly down to its 2% target<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the rise in yields has also been because of Trump. He talks up tariffs and other policies that economists say <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-inflation-tariffs-taxes-immigration-federal-reserve-a18de763fcc01557258c7f33cab375ed\">could drive inflation and the U.S. government\u2019s debt higher<\/a><\/span>, along with the economy\u2019s growth. <\/p>\n<p>Traders have already begun paring forecasts for how many cuts to rates the Fed will deliver next year because of that. While lower rates can boost the economy, they can also give inflation more fuel. <\/p>\n<p>In stock markets abroad, indexes fell across much of Europe and Asia. Hong Kong\u2019s Hang Seng dropped 2.8% for one of the worst falls.
