In the last week, the game appears to have seen a resurgence in popularity thanks to several posts on X that racked up millions of views.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">One <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/jaxonloid\/status\/1854739634950979979\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">user<\/a> shared audio from the game\u2019s soundtrack, which is titled \u201cForeboding 1,\u201d in a YouTube video title. Another person <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ExFalchion\/status\/1855031655024435470\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shared<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ExFalchion\/status\/1855031655024435470\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> on X a glimpse<\/a> into the game, which shows Piglet wandering through an empty mansion that seems rife for jump scares.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">In the game\u2019s narrative, Piglet observes his friends (Pooh, Tigger, Eeore, Rabbit and Roo) preoccupied by their various interests. For example, Pooh is shown\u00a0attempting to get honey while the oft depressed Eeore mopes in his tent. At some point in the game, Piglet realizes that his friends have all fallen asleep and he must then enter their dreams to complete tasks and help them wake up.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Search interest in the game has grown since it began getting posted about on X on Nov. 7, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/trends.google.com\/trends\/explore?date=now%207-d&amp;geo=US&amp;q=%2Fm%2F0gykx3&amp;hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google Trends<\/a>. It also saw a spike in interest on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebay.com\/sch\/i.html?_fsrp=1&amp;rt=nc&amp;_from=R40&amp;_nkw=piglets+big+game+gamecube&amp;_sacat=0&amp;LH_Sold=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eBay<\/a>, with gamers captivated by how a cute cartoon somehow became the subject of such a creepy, horror-esque game. Roughly 60 copies of the game have been sold on the online resale site since posts on X started gaining traction. In the weeks before the newfound attention, between zero and two games were being sold per month on average.<\/p>\n<section class=\"embed-widget embedWidget embed-widget--medium\" data-testid=\"embed-widget\"\/>\n<p class=\"\">The game\u2019s recent popularity online is the latest example of gamer nostalgia, in which consumers seek to recreate the rush of playing their favorite older titles on early-era consoles. In recent years, video game publishers have cashed in on the growing interest among gamers to tap into the past by releasing remastered titles, including Spyro the Dragon, the Crash Bandicoot series and Tomb Raider titles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Piglet\u2019s Big Game was released on the GameCube, PlayStation 2, GameBoy Advanced, Mac and PC, but each iteration varies in gameplay. Prior to the buzz on X, copies of the game sold for about $20 to $30, with some going for as low as just under $6. Now, the copies are selling for $70 or more. <\/p>\n<section class=\"embed-widget embedWidget embed-widget--medium\" data-testid=\"embed-widget\"\/>\n<p class=\"\">Many gamers who saw the viral videos drew comparison to popular horror games they play regularly.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cas someone who\u2019s actually played piglet\u2019s big game, the best way you can describe it is baby\u2019s first resident evil and\/or silent hill and no, I am not exaggerating,\u201d wrote one person on <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/WolfgangBirdie\/status\/1855087221994332511\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">X<\/a>,\u00a0 referencing two of the largest mature-rated horror games franchises.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Some shared clips from the game that underscore why they think it belongs in the horror genre. One X user <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/HappyOrange2000\/status\/1855117900329156855\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">posted a <\/a>video in which the often-timid Piglet is seen quivering with fear as he runs through what appears to be an abandoned child\u2019s room.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Another X user pointed out the game&#8217;s eerie soundtrack, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/GenePark\/status\/1855335799182794832\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">asking<\/a> the creative lead of the remastered horror title Silent Hill 2, Mateusz Lenart, if he was inspired by Piglet\u2019s Big Game when composing \u201cChthonic Symphony.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Lenart did not immediately respond to a request for comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"endmark\">Disney Games also did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the recent interest in Piglet\u2019s Big Game.
