{"id":125353,"date":"2024-11-13T12:44:49","date_gmt":"2024-11-13T05:44:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=125353"},"modified":"2024-11-13T12:44:49","modified_gmt":"2024-11-13T05:44:49","slug":"nasas-jet-propulsion-lab-laying-off-5-of-its-workforce","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=125353","title":{"rendered":"NASA&#8217;s Jet Propulsion Lab laying off 5% of its workforce"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"article-body\">\n<p>NASA&#8217;s chief center for robotic planetary exploration is conducting another round of layoffs.<\/p>\n<p>The<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/16952-nasa-jet-propulsion-laboratory.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/16952-nasa-jet-propulsion-laboratory.html\"> Jet Propulsion Laboratory<\/a> (JPL) in Southern California \u2014 which manages many of NASA&#8217;s high-profile robotic missions, such as the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/perseverance-rover-mars-2020-mission\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/perseverance-rover-mars-2020-mission\">Perseverance<\/a> and Curiosity Mars rovers \u2014 announced Tuesday (Nov. 12) that it will lay off about 325 employees, or roughly 5% of its workforce.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"hawk-nest\" data-block-type=\"embed\" data-render-type=\"fte\" data-skip=\"dealsy\" data-widget-type=\"seasonal\"\/>\n<p>&#8220;The impacts are occurring across technical, business and support areas of the Laboratory,&#8221; JPL officials wrote in an <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jpl.nasa.gov\/news\/jpl-workforce-update_-\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.jpl.nasa.gov\/news\/jpl-workforce-update_-\/\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"noopener\">update on Tuesday<\/a>. &#8220;These are painful but necessary adjustments that will enable us to adhere to our budget while continuing our important work for NASA and our nation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: <\/strong><a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/16952-nasa-jet-propulsion-laboratory.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/16952-nasa-jet-propulsion-laboratory.html\">Facts and information about NASA&#8217;s Jet Propulsion Laboratory<\/a><\/p>\n<p>JPL, which is federally funded but managed by the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, also conducted a round of <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/nasa-jpl-layoffs-february-2024-mars-sample-return\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/nasa-jpl-layoffs-february-2024-mars-sample-return\">layoffs in February<\/a>. She stressed that &#8220;this action would be happening regardless of the recent election outcome.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Leshin also expressed hope that there would be no need for further layoffs for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;After this action, we will be at about 5,500 JPL regular employees,&#8221; she wrote. &#8220;I believe this is a stable, supportable staffing level moving forward.
