The move resulted in criticism and speculation that Strahan could\u2019ve been attempting to make a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tHowever, in a post on Instagram, Strahan addressed the criticism and debunked the theories that he was protesting: \u201cI have nothing to protest. I have no statement to be made. The only statement that should be made and that I want to make is that I love the military, I\u2019ve always loved the military, and I will always love the military.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cI do so many programs to help veterans and soldiers. I grew up on a military base with a father who was a major in the Army. My brother, my sister, my cousins, they all served in the military \u2014 I\u2019m a military brat,\u201d Strahan continued. \u201cAnd so the fact of somebody saying that, you know, I\u2019m unpatriotic, couldn\u2019t be any further from the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tStrahan added that he was \u201ccaught up in the moment\u201d of seeing the young sailors and Navy SEALs in attendance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cI\u2019m thinking to myself, \u2018How incredible to be that young and to know that you want to do this,\u2019\u201d Strahan said. \u201cIt\u2019s such a commitment, but you\u2019re willing to commit to something that you know gives us our freedoms, plain and simple.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tWhen he realized that he didn\u2019t have his hand over his heart, Strahan recalled having a \u201csomewhat panic. \u2026 I\u2019m like, \u2018Do I be the fool that puts his hand over his heart after or do I just stand here with my hand in front of me respectfully?\u2019 Which, that\u2019s what I did, that\u2019s what happened.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cIf that offended any of our military and veterans, I apologize to you because that was never my intent,\u201d Strahan ended the video. \u201cI\u2019m a product of the military, a proud lover of the military, and proud lover of all those who serve before, now, and who will serve in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\"\/>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAmid the criticism, Strahan\u2019s Fox Sports co-host <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JayGlazer\/status\/1856049265346584668\" target=\"_blank\">Jay Glazer defended him<\/a> on social media, writing, \u201cLet me tell you this, I don\u2019t know if I have a friend who is more proud of his military roots than Michael, growing up on an Army base constantly talking about what he learned from his dad Major Gene Strahan and how his time there shaped him. I heard it CONSTANTLY, still do! But also, with no fanfare I personally saw him donate thousands of dollars of clothes to veterans, including many homeless veterans as well clothes for veterans to go on job interviews.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tFor Veterans Day, Strahan <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DCOqk6VR0k7\/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==\" target=\"_blank\">paid tribute to his father<\/a>, \u201cThis is my hero, it is also my father and hero Maj. Gene W. Strahan, Sr. He served for 23 years in the army and was a proud member of the 82nd Airborne Division. Just as I honor my father, I keep all of you in my thoughts each and every day as we would not have the safety and freedoms we cherish without you.
