The vibe was different. And then COVID happened, and it pushed it over the edge. Whether it\u2019s the homelessness or the taxes, not that I want to shit on California \u2014 it just feels like this chapter in my life is done now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe <em>Desperate Housewives<\/em> actress cited the election as one reason for the finality of her conviction. \u201cThe shocking part is not that he won,\u201d she said of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/donald-trump\/\" id=\"auto-tag_donald-trump_1\" data-tag=\"donald-trump\">Donald Trump<\/a>\u2018s victory last week. \u201cIt\u2019s that a convicted criminal who spews so much hate could hold the highest office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cIf he keeps his promises, it\u2019s going to be a scary place,\u201d she said. Longoria also took a second to recall Trump\u2019s 2016 win, when she said, \u201cI\u2019ve never been depressed in my life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cIt was like, \u2018Does my vote really matter? Am I really making a difference?\u2019\u201d she says. \u201cI was so untethered to the core of what I believe because I truly believed in my soul that the best person wins. And then that happened, and I was like, \u2018Oh, wait. The best person doesn\u2019t win.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tLongoria went on to acknowledge that she is \u201cprivileged\u201d to be able to make the decision to move away. \u201cI get to escape and go somewhere,\u201d she said. \u201cMost Americans aren\u2019t so lucky. They\u2019re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe actress now lives with her husband, Jos\u00e9 Bast\u00f3n, and their son, 6-year-old Santiago, in Mexico and Spain.
