The app just passed the 15 million user mark after adding more than a million new users over the <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:1;pos:1\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/bsky.app\/post\/3larljiybf22v\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:last week;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:1;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">last week<\/a>, the company said in <a data-i13n=\"cpos:2;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/bsky.app\/post\/3latotljnec2h\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:an update;cpos:2;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">an update<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While Bluesky is still considerably smaller than Threads, which with 275 million users is its biggest rival, there are signs that Threads users have been increasingly curious about the upstart. \u201cBluesky\u201d has been a trending topic on Threads in recent days and an in-app search suggestion shows there are more than 19,000 posts about \u201cBluesky.\u201d Bluesky itself has also made <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:3;pos:1\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/social-media\/bluesky-is-having-a-moment-on-threads-222404971.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:a push;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:3;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\"><\/a> to win over Threads users in recent weeks by posting regularly on the Meta-owned service.<\/p>\n<p>That effort seems to be working. A month ago, Engadget <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:4;pos:1\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/social-media\/bluesky-is-having-a-moment-on-threads-222404971.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:noted;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:4;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\"><\/a>, the service had just under 9 million users. Its mobile app also has the top spot in Apple\u2019s App Store, followed by Threads and ChatGPT. Its recent success also seems to be driven, at least in part, by frustration with Elon Musk and X following the US presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>A recent <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:5;pos:1\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.similarweb.com\/blog\/insights\/social-media-news\/x-traffic-peak-deactivations\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:report;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:5;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">report<\/a> from web analytics company SimilarWeb found that \u201cmore than 115,000 US web visitors deactivated their accounts,\u201d on November 7, \u201cmore than on any previous day of Elon Musk\u2019s tenure.\u201d The report also noted that \u201cweb traffic and daily active users for Bluesky increased dramatically in the week before the election, and then again after election day,\u201d with Bluesky at points seeing more web traffic than Threads.
